Great for making music, just a few changes I think should be made. – GarageBand Review

Over my years of use in GarageBand, my music has become constantly better with every song I make. Apart from it being difficult to find sounds that mix together/find the sound you are looking for, it has been relatively easy for me to make some pretty cool tunes of multiple genres. The difficulty with finding sound though is one of my reasons for not giving it 5 stars. That and the somewhat frequent crashes that require me to restart my phone to open the song again, and audio files occasionally not working. Yes, GarageBand has a massive variety of sounds to use in my songs, but it is difficult to find something that will fit the whole way through because you cannot really edit the sound of each individual note aside from overall velocity. The one major issue I have is with the drum sets. I usually like to make fast paced intense music, but I have yet to find an intense drum set with a decent snare and bass combination that will work for my songs. I wish to sort of simulate the way Current Value makes their drum and bass music, but none of the drum sets fit that genre. As such I’ve found myself abandoning several projects. Additionally, I think there are some other effects that you should be able to enact on the overall song rather than individual notes, such as having a fade in along with the fade out, and being able to control the overall song volume throughout different parts of the song to make it progressive. Transitions between sections have also been difficult for me. I typically use a boomer FX reversed and then forwards, but it only works for major transitions. With those effects, it would allow me to transform good music into great music. And this is just a personal thing, but I kind of like songs better when they are just a hair sharp or flat rather than directly in tune. I have been able to emulate the effect currently by placing it into VideoLeap and speeding it up by 1.02, but it would be nice if I could do that right in garage band so I can hear it like that while I am still in the process of making it. Despite my pet peeves about it, it’s an awesome app hands down. The current version has been especially good to me and I can’t wait to see what I make next.
