Interesting Concept, Poor Implementation – Spacing Out Review

The game started out very well, but as time went on things went downhill very fast. First, we have the issue of severe malapropisms that are obvious spelling errors that were missed by the spell check. A couple here and there would have been alright, but before I even got to the 'meat' of the story, they were already coming fast and frequently enough that I started having issues following the writer's meaning. Secondly we have severe issues with walls of exposition that dump you back to the same wall of five (or more) 'choices' that brought you to the exposition in the first place. Sometimes they remove the questions you already asked so you feel like you're moving forward, many times they do not. Thirdly, it seems like the decisions you are given don't really change much of the story. I played my character with a specific characterization in mind, but at a few points I suddenly scaled up all skills and traits with no in-story reason for doing so. The influences of choices we were given were also somewhat oddly placed and weighted. Just because I'm attracted to a specific gender doesn't mean I'm going to be attracted to *everyone* of that gender. If I'm going to give any sort of positive response to them in interaction, it's textually tagged as 'flirting' with them. If I want to build the best relationship with them, I have to overtly flirt. Even if I don't see fraternization to be appropriate and just be really good friends with them. For all the reasons above, I couldn't even bring myself to finish this game. Perhaps if some of the issues mentioned in this review are corrected in the future I could come back to finish this game, but until then I recommend people stay far away.
