Not Bad, Not Great--Still, Good Way to Pass Time – Chronicles of the Witches and Warlocks Mystery Adventure - Free Review

I agree with another reviewer--where are the witches and warlocks? Well, anyway, I actually enjoyed this entertaining murder mystery, with supernatural overtones, as you set off to prove your boyfriend's innocence after he was framed for murder. The graphics are satisfactory but could be a bit sharper. There is an abundance of action-packed cut-scenes to further maintain your attention. However, the exclusion of voiceovers detracts from a more immersive connection with the storyline. The inventory is labeled but not interactive; unfortunately, the bar does not lock in place. There are only two modes of difficulty; and on expert mode, the guiding hands point directly over the exact positions of where you need to place items. This game is far from challenging! You are given a diary to record story progression and clues to solve puzzles. The teleport map did consistently transport me to where I wanted to go and also indicated objectives; however, I found that there were were no tasks to immediately perform in many locations showing an exclamation mark. The HOS are all boring and old-school junk-pile word lists containing scant interactivity. The puzzles are elementary in challenge, but they are entertaining. You have one set of collectibles, which are easy to spot. Even though I need to take lightly the fact that this is an outdated game, I still cannot rate this higher than 3 stars because games dating back to 2014 were already implementing or introducing more advanced interactive elements. Furthermore, you are denied a bonus chapter and any extras. Overall, it is still a decent game to play if you are bored and have nothing else to play, especially for $2.99.
