Enticing, innovative history app! – Ripped Apart: A Civil War Mystery Review

I look for any game that involves the Smithsonian. Not only do I love history and biographies, I share this passion with my children, and now grandchildren. This is a bright, fresh way to examine history by 'being brought into a once living person's life' a little. Yes, I was initially unsure of what to do in this game, but if you read all the comments from the story's digital curator, you should follow along well. This works great if you don't hold back with swiping images or pages on your smartphone or iPad. In fact, this game is designed for exploration. I won't demote it for not providing instructions, because all the tools are here. Poke around :) The one element AI don't care for is the setting of searching for clues to RELEASE the spirits of these deceased Civil War era persons so each can find peace. Did you consider that by portraying them in this way, as trapped spirits, they are dishonored? Also, I dislike incorporating spiritism into an already enlightened, excellent game that inherently has a strong appeal due to the tragic nature of war. The spooky musical notes are unnecessary, too. I will use this with my grandchildren ages 12 and up, but not before instructing them with the unfortunate spiritist slant. Yes, I know that Abraham Lincoln's wife Mary was into spiritism and hosted seances in the White House, but really. This app is high caliber enough for me to still rate it 5 stars. If you ever drop the spirit angle, I'll bump it up!
