The developer’s description of this app is one of “mini-adventure” – and that it is. The characters are spell casting apprentices who use the magic of math to defend their world. In the Library players access the mini-story, this explains properties of multiplication. Students who enjoy reading fantasy will be drawn into the narrative. Parents or teachers can also read this out loud, adding just the right amount of drama. The Courtyard provides the first attempt to build conceptual understanding, with short instructional explanations as scaffolds. The Village is a great place to practice fluency. Feedback is given on the number combinations students need to practice.
