Sketchy login requirements – LIFTTT - Location Triggers for IFTTT Review

Why force users to have gmail? And why isn't app using google's iOS authentication so people don't have to enter email password with the app? But more importantly, this is an IFTTT app, has nothing to do with email... Something seems fishy. Developer is at best overstepping its scope for perceived practicality, at worst harvesting emails, maybe even passwords for other purposes. Also, why confuse the user with a home screen that is essentially an advertisement for other apps? Surely there must be a less obtrusive way of promoting your other apps without obstructing the apps core functionality? Bummer, cause looked exactly like what I was looking for. Will try it when they fix their practices.
