annoying

I hate the fact that you have to download the app just to view reviews.

Love love love

I use yelp for checking out if a place has good food! I love what they're doing to promote businesses!

This is it!

If you're looking for a place to eat or just about anything else, you should be using Yelp. Seriously, nothing else compares. Of course, no single review should be trusted. Instead, look for establishments with a high number of total reviews. Then, just look to the number of stars the place received. It usually is a solid indicator. It's that simple.

Great idea, corrupt.

The idea is great and the app could be outstanding, if it were not run like a for profit business and more like a service to it's customers. Referrals default to paid advertisers and their algorithms for publishing reviews is not fair to business who don't pay-to-play. Advertising with Yelp is very expensive and the sales pitch is mafia style arm wrenching. I see this in most suggestions the app offers my when a consumer. I bet the app was outstanding before greed took over.

Wrong ratings

The app doesn't keep up to date reviews. They don't keep up with the recent reviews rate to date in order.I don't want to see old reviews from 2 years ago.

Unorganized

Yelp is help full, what I don't like is the layout! When people write reviews they are scattered and you have to dig for info. Yelp please keep reviews date consistent.... I also believe stars should reflect on recent reviews. For instance I used to frequent a certain restaurant, it was bought out and they got a new chef.... it's horrible now, it still gets to keep all the past reviews and stars... That's misleading....Yelp please get more organized!

I use it almost daily

Yelp has been invaluable to me in the two years since I moved to SoCal. I was able to find lots of gems that might otherwise have remained hidden. It is an especially useful way to get to know a new area or neighborhood. I places that have high stars and high numbers of reviews have been consistently good. Strongly positive or negative reviews when there are not many reviews seems to mostly be due to friends of the business or people who has a bad experience--in those cases I've had more mixed experiences. But then I add my rating and in the long run the ratings settle about where they should.

Stupid

Daveinwi

I've lost track of how many times yelp does this, because it does it every time! I put in a SPECIFIC place that I am looking for such as Home Depot. I even select the option with the home depot logo that says to find home depot locations near me. And what does yelp offer? Not just the home depots that I'm specifically looking for, but also every other hardware store in the search area. Same thing if I ask specifically for Lowe's stores. What is the point of a specific search if you still have to sort through all the unrelated items?

The App is ok much room for improvement.

Yelp it's self is a huge conflict of interest. When a company excepts money for advertising they should not be able to advertise that they are a fair review site. Kind of like US politics lol... It should be run as a review site like a non-profit and at that point it would be trustable. It's way to easy for someone to create an account and just bash a business. I'm mean come on who attacks local students working at Starbucks? I use it but I don't really read all the reviews I view pictures people post. Pictures don't lie. The App is OK but it could be much better. I think once google acquires the company the App it's self will be much better.

Control freaks!

I had the Yelp app for a while but removed it to make more space on my phone (music and photos being the priority). Now, when I use my phone to essentially google Yelp reviews, I'm taken to Yelp and then am forced to download the app in order to see reviews in their entirety. Otherwise, I can only see the first sentence of each review. Even if I sign in to Yelp (as if using on a desktop computer) it still kicks me off the page and straight onto the Yelp app page and asks me to download the app. Totally messed up. I refuse to be owned by them like that. Yelp is no longer what it used to be. ?
