Fantastic!

Excellent App. It will be even better when they flush it out more (read: add trail descriptions!!). Also, opening the maps in google maps instead of apple maps would be nice. Update: New version has option to open directions in google maps, love it! Thanks!

Great app would be even greater with a few updates!

Love the app! On my wish list would be the ability to refresh the map to reload trails when the map is moved (a la Yelp). It is a but frustrating to use the "Near Me" feature and not be able to look outside the original search area. I really do appreciate this app though. Thank you!

Good Start

While I am stoked that there is actually a WTA app now, there's a couple things that need help. First, having the ability to search for a specific trail and not just the trails close to me would be awesome. Second, more info on the trails themselves would help. This app is good for basic info to start with.

Amazing

This is by far the best app I have seen and the only review I have written. It is very user friendly (more so than the website). The feature of directions to the trailhead is invaluable. Very easy to search for hikes, save them, view recently searched, and it is much easier to flick through the different tabs of info on each hike. Great app! Love it!

Great, but needs trail descriptions

I found myself clicking the "View hike on wta.org" link all the time because there are no descriptions.

Simple to Use, But No Trail Summary

MmmmWaffles

Not including the general descriptions for a hike is the only thing keeping this from being the perfect trail companion app. Having dated hiker feedback is definitely helpful (and yes, the summary is reachable on the website) but nothing beats a good old fashioned description. I was so happy when I saw there was an app for WTA, and one that pairs so nicely with the website. It is cleanly designed, very easy to use, and I find myself browsing for hikes more often because of it. I was happy for the inclusion of whether or not a hike was dog friendly by default, too. As a hiker, this is easily one of my favorite apps.

A Bit Pointless

DoobieWonderSmoke

I downloaded the app in hopes of using it in conjunction with the website. However, favorites saved through the web page do not transfer to the app. The search functionality is fairly weak, and you can’t view any bookmarks if the phone doesn’t have an internet connection. When I’m away from civilization the app is useless. The actual setup and UI are great, but it seems basic features were not included which causes me to give such a low rating.

Happy to finally see a WTA app

This app is a fantastic start. The web site is not very mobile friendly so having an app is great. I wish the actual train descriptions were available ( maybe the next version?) but otherwise it's a clean, easy to use interface with current information.

Simple and effective but

Stupid app123

Don't think that this app could be any easier to use. Great download if you're a hiker. The only thing it is missing is the description of the hike itself. All I have to go off of are the trip reports.

Nice start. Needs an overhaul

First, I'm happy there is an app whatsoever. Great start! Second, I had hoped to use this app while mobile, remotely connecting me to my saved hikes, reviews, etc. There is no option to connect to your user account. Third, the advanced search criteria should be expanded. How about a difficulty level option? How about searching your favorite trails? Also, how about filtering results by location? Often when searching for hikes "near me" I receive results hours away. Fourth, the trail info should link to a mobile version of the web trail page. The info available is greatly reduced on this platform. App users should also be able to live update/comment on conditions. Making it an on-site effective tool for the community. Fifth, check out the Eddie Bauer app. This tool can use your "available time" to help you plan options that are viable within location and time constraints on any given day. This would be a great feature. Sixth, interactive trail maps would be amazing. Visual guides for trails where you GPS ping can roughly follow your progress along the path(s). Finally, the volume of results on the hike map is far, far lower than the array of results received online. Overall, this app would be helpful to someone who has never or hardly ever hiked in WA. You'll find some sort of trail that you can handle. If you're looking to use this tool to improve your regular or frequent hiking routines, it is not quite there yet. Hopefully soon. Right WTA??
