I love WNYC, but this app doesn't do the station justice. It fails in the most basic requirement: just stream the content reliably. Also UI emphasis is on graphics and pictures, but at the expense of quick navigation

Excellent Content, Intermittent Dropouts

I love WNYC and am a monthly contributor. The programming is fantastic and I listen through this app daily. My only complaint with the app is that it drops out sporadically (whether I'm connected via wifi or 4G). Sometimes this happens hourly, sometimes more frequently. Whenever the signal drops out, one is required to restart the app and (usually) listen to the sponsors again. A minor inconvenience, but it happens often enough that I hope some improvements can be made.

Although the design and overall look of the app is very good, the functionality of the app is horrible at best. Either freezes up or crashes... Sometimes both. To deal with the bugs in this app they will need to call in a exterminator. It's that bad. Very disappointed

What went wrong??!!

Love the station & listened on the app all the time. All of a sudden in early Dec 2015 it stopped working! All I get is a red screen !!

so slow to load, SO SLOW to use, and absolutely buggy with blank menus and blank pages, and completely unresponsive. love your radio programs but this app is pure garbage.

Looks great and the content but s superb. Overall a great app if you're lucky enough to not catch it acting up so it's a shame the app often does not work properly. Some issues include the streams not starting (even on wifi), getting stuck on a page because the back button stops responding, and the app just generally being slow. The app shouldn't be so hard to use but it's being held back by whatever's going on under the hood.

In theory, it's a great app. The reality, however, proves very disappointing. Constantly cuts out. Downloaded it an hour ago and every ten minutes I have to restart the app to keep the live stream going. I expected better from this great radio station.

Others reviewers out there have said the same thing, but I wanted to add my own comments here in hopes that the content owners will see the large number of negative reviews and get the developer of this app to do something. The content available with this app is amazing. The app itself looks good, but has a lot of issues. The most irritating of these issues is that it crashes constantly, or just stops playing and you have to drag it out of your pocket every five minutes and fiddle with it to get it to play. Also, saving content for later listening is really irritating. You have to click to "show more" a hundred times if you're trying to listen to old podcasts, and when you actually listen to saved content it doesn't move it to a "listened to" section when you're done so whenever you finish a saved show it just starts right up again listening to the first show on your list (or something else random that you've already listened to) WNYC, get your developers to fix this app please!!!

I agree with everyone else. The interface is nice, but the app is extremely buggy. It doesn't work correctly when I want to save audio to listen to later, it doesn't remember my saved shows, and sometimes it won't stream the episodes I want to hear.
