Love the Station

Hate the app.

Poor performance

Tom_PA24

App drops connection when phone sleeps then requires you to watch commercial again when you reopen. Constantly interrupts programming.

Great app

Love it but it needs Apple Watch Support When I am out of radio range traveling I can still listen in my car or headphones

I have to listen to an ad to listen to ads?

Fred20637

WMAL doesn’t care that their signal is of very poor quality in southern Maryland. So I decided to try to app. I have to listen to a 30 second commercial before streaming begins and I am treated to more commercials? No thanks. I can get the same programming on other apps without the inconvenience.

Great but needs updating

Biznatchhh

The app stops playing randomly and continues to be riddled with adds that keep me from listening. Please update!

Bad App

I used to listen to The Chris Plante Show via the podcast icon on my phone, this no longer works and friends on Facebook suggested the WMAL app. Unfortunately anytime you leave the app to answer a phone call or text, the app restarts the podcast. Love Chris’ show but am tired of trying to fast forward back to the point I was listening to the show.

The most unstable app

timgehr

As much as I like the radio station this app is not a very good representative of the stations quality. This app will just quit or sometimes restart out of the blue, it is cumbersome to use and not user friendly. I would be willing to pay for a decent app because it’s the only way I can listen to Chris Plante. Please consider an app that we can buy that is decent and this from someone who almost never pays for them.

Agree with The Bare Minimum and...

On top of the forced opening commercial NOW about every 15 minutes a Samsung Galaxy 9 commercial overtakes the app and programming while locking the control button (usually when one of the hosts is on the cusp of something that I am waiting to hear). Often, after this interference is done the app has stopped and when I tap the control button to restart I have to listen to Larry’s Zerorez commercial again. Then the cycle starts all over sometimes immediately! Come on WMAL. I love you guys and listen while I am walking but the frustration level with this issue is becoming untenable.

WMAL app

What a terrible app. If I could give a lower than one star rating i would.

The bare minimum

A critical yet satisfied user

iPhone 6 Plus iOS 11.4.1 Same feedback as most other reviewers: Love the station, but the app is very sub-par. zconservative’s review is spot on, and what’s disappointing is that all the issues people mention from 5 years ago are still there. - REALLY repetitive ads (Larry talks about zerorez ALL THE TIME). Ads are fine—radio stations need money to operate—but don’t make us wait through the same ad twice if we’ve already seen it within the last half-hour. - Buttons aren’t active until a few seconds after loading or switching to the app - Touch areas seem badly calibrated/defined - Audio randomly stops (see note about audio services below) - When hooked up to car Bluetooth and starting the app, the Music app automatically starts playing too. So I’m listening to both at the same time. Can’t get them to separate from one another, which seems to indicate lazy coding piggybacking on the same audio service that Music is using. App needs an overhaul.
