Installed Where To?, immediately deleted Yelp

So much more useful to me than Yelp. Better user interface, better detail about a particular location, and I still get reviews, just without the creepy social media feel of Yelp.

Great app, but could make a few improvements
JewelesB

I love using this to find gas stations when traveling & looking for large gas stations that have fast food & usually cleaner bathrooms. Although when zooming out to try to pick the best locations it will automatically zoom me back in & you have to keep going back & forth, it’s frustrating. Also it does not let you know the exit numbers when your looking at the different options on the map. I look at the options on the map to plan our stops out & then go back to our gps. It’s the exit app but it doesn’t note the exit numbers unless you go opt for directions & then go to the list view of what the turn by turn directions are then it tells you the exit number. These changes would be a great improvement for many users.

No 3D?!?!?
DennisInTC

3D was one of the coolest features about this app. First I have to pay for an update, then the update takes away a key fetaure!! Updates are suppose to add to the betterment of an app, not take away things!! One star until it is fixed.

Good Updare

Been using this App for a while now and find the upgrade better but not necessarily worth the price. Hope to see 3D back and other improvements in the future.

Lacking
helopilot

This app is only ok. In my opinion it's missing some basic functionality. The biggest example that comes to mind is that when you leave the app it continues to use location services. It even does so if you force quit the app, so it's a battery killer. You'll have to go into settings every time and disable and then reenable location services whenever you want to use the app again. The other thing thats missing is just the ability to look at the map and see what's around you. You always have to choose a category, it would be nice to be able to customize the map so you could choose what categories were always displayed around you without starting with a category.

Not (yet) worth a paid upgrade
gotommy

While the app was due for a visual design overhaul (to align with iOS 7 & 8), that doesn't really warrant a paid upgrade with no real additional functionality. But when I discovered a companion app for my Pebble smartwatch that you can use for directions and "keep your iPhone in the pocket while walking or driving" I ponied up. Boy, was I disappointed to find that these directions consist of - literally - just the direction (and distance - in a straight line). There is no real-life use case where that information can be used as a substitute for driving directions, allowing you to keep your phone in your pocket. Unless your car can fly, you probably shouldn't just aim toward a restaurant and floor it. Or you and the restaurant are in the middle of an open field. Even walking it's questionable if you can use the direction and as-the-crow-flies distance to get to a destination. So it's a bit perplexing that they would market this as a way to navigate while keeping your phone in your pocket. It's actually misleading. Hopefully, it's just version 1.0 of this feature and they plan on displaying actual, navigable directions in the near future. Definitely don't upgrade just for the integration with Pebble. It's cute, but currently fairly useless.

Lacking that Wow Factor
dexoticaqua

Okay, I like the update and that it is very efficient. But my problem with it is that the program has lost a lot of its wow factor. I can't imagine that one would add 3-D in the current OS system since everything is going flat, but it needed something to make it exceptionable. For instance the maps could have a lot more color and could be a little bit more 3-D the dial could have a little bit more color and so forth.......something. Now that may be immaterial to most people but when you've bought this app based upon that wow factor then without it, makes it a little less palatable. I used to love opening up the app in it's previous version. It felt as if I was in a very elegant study(and that the bread ground the beautiful black dial etc.). Now it feels like I'm in a board room with a bunch of stodgy professors and no one has any interest in any other color but Tan. No, no ladies in red here.

Upgrade is broken.
jimdavisor

This has been my go to app for years to locate services when I am on the road. It now finds what I'm looking for but crashes when I click on the pin. Now useless.

Not working
Jonida00

Old version had more accuracy. Also when you pull up an address link to the directions phone etc is broken and app closes every 10 seconds. Please fix this !!!! I can't believe you charge for this. The free version was better

Still the best app going!
KimSanJose

"Where To" has been at the very top of my app list for years. I've not found anything else quite like it. Restaurants, shopping, services, you name it, you can find it nearby no matter where you are then get all sorts of great information about the business you're looking for. Phone, website, map, link to menus for restaurants, reviews. and so on. I love the new release with the expanded user reviews and upgraded user interface. I find it more easy to navigate and read. It's like google maps, yelp, chowhound, and TripAdvisor all rolled into one. Indispensable for travelers. Keep up the good work, folks!
