This is a free lite version of vmcMote.
vmcMote allows you to wirelessly access and control the music functionality of your Windows Vista© or Windows 7 Media Center. It enables you to browse your library, search music, play/enqueue tracks, view the current playing track, the in-track position, create and manage playlists (on device only), enqueue radio streams ...
Important: You need to install a server component on your Media Center! The vmcMote server is an Addin for Windows Media Center.

- There is and will be no video/TV/recordings library. This tool is mainly intended to give access to Media Center functionality you naturally do not need a running TV to consume them. However, under Windows 7 and 8, you get the information about a just playing video.

It's a little bit unfair to complain about something that is not supported (such as windows 7). The next version should work with windows 7 by the way.
Hoping not to use tv to play music

Hi I'm looking for an app that will allow me to play music without turning on tv to browse collection. This is it! But it could be more polished and it would be great to get one for iPad! Looking to not have to buy Sonos or Squeezebox...

I can watch anything I record on my computer's windows media and I control it as I watch! Pause it, rewind, forward, etc. My tv is a large plasma hd and it is connected to my computer that has an hd card so the quality is just amazing! I totally recommend this application! Can't get over it :-)

I don't get it. It says it's supports Windows 7, but it doesn't work for me. No server found.
