Best sailing game, but devs are thieves!

Ezmacaroni

I was enjoying this game, but keep in mind that if you use powerups and get a phone call, your race is abandoned and so are the powerups you purchased. You do not get the green coins back to buy more. Further, I tried purchasing 1000 coins and did not receive them. My credit card was charged. I have submitted several tickets and no response.

Nice

Pretty nice

VIP wealth gap

Reed l

With the introduction of VIP you can see that this application is more interested in making money than providing an even fleet for everyone to enjoy. If you pay you have a consistent advantage over those who do not. Please take a lesson from SailX and make online sailing great again!

I hate it but it can be fixed

It’s not sailing. While they did get a lot right there are so many things wrong with it. Like the steering is garbage. And the whole vip thing is stupid too... just give us all the ability to see lifts and knocks just like in normal sailing....... I shouldn’t have to pay to do something which everyone can do in the real world! And the fact that it’s random whether I get best vmg(meaning you don’t have to deal with the terrible steering), wind intelligence (you get to kinda see where the wind is coming from just like you would normally be able to do in real life), layline (helpful), windshadow (really helpful) or time to start line (kinda helpful but not really because you can’t start too close to the line or you will be over early and ruin your race) IS REDICULOUS! THE GAME WOULD BE SO MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE IF YOU COULD ACTUALLY USE THESE FEATURES LIKE YOU NORMALLY WOULD IN THR REAL WORLD! There also need to be more ways to customize your boats like custom livery’s and stickers or names. Maybe even the hardware your boat has? Different hardware companies give you certain advantages? Harken for speed, Ronstan gives you lightness, Allen lets you point higher? Something like that.... What if you took away the cost of liveries or maybe just reserved a few to cost in game money and the rest were given to you as you leveled up? I don’t think you really get anything as you level up so why have the different levels? You shouldn’t be able to take your spinnaker down when on a downwind leg until you get near the mark! I can’t tell you how many times I click the wrong button and screw my whole race over! Same for upwind! You can’t use your spinnaker until you get on the offset. The catamarans are too fast to control. And I don’t like the F50s. 49er is the best in the game followed by Star then J70. Oops I mean dayboat............................ There needs to be more boats as well not just the high performance sport boats....... I get they are popular but how many people sail a nacra vs how many people sail a laser! I bet you 80% of the people playing this game have sailed a laser yet the most popular boat ever made is not in the game! How about a 420? J24? Sonar? Hobie? FJ? 470? Ideal? 18 foot skiff? How about a J class? Maybe a symmetrical spinnaker? The game has some potential but things need to be fixed. One easy thing you can do is stop naming the boats what they aren’t! We all know the “day boat” is a J70. Call it a J70. And we all know the “offshore racer” is just a mix between the VOR boats and those old AC boats. JUST GIVE IT A REAL NAME! Another thing is if a low batter notification, phone call, or literally anything comes onto my screen I will get kicked off the game and have to join another race. Fix it of give an excuse for why this happens. Overall it needs some work but has potential. Hopefully the developers read this and take me somewhat seriously. Thanks if you do!

Could be great, but it ain’t

PolarPilot10

I really wanted this game to be good, but the lagginess and abysmal rules engine is ruining my experience. I have been racing in online sailing games for 15 years now, and I’m disappointed that VR’s seem more broken than VSK5 from 2006. Since there is ZERO enforcement of Rules 15 or 16, a close-quarters duel downwind becomes a farce when your opponent just jibes into you and draws a foul. I expected better from a game partnered with World Sailing, who write the rules and I would imagine have an interest in teaching their proper application.

Good game. To many glitches

Miatj

Great game! Lots of fun but to many glitches. You either get thrown out or you will be rounding downwind mark the suddenly somewhere else. Needs attention

Stealing your $$$

You pay for credits, but the way the app is currently set up, if you are unable to race because nobody shows up, VR will not refund the credits you paid to enter the race. They have now set up a nice extortion plan to steal your money. So many changes to this game recently to take advantage of their customers and make a money grab.

Love the game but app is buggy

KindSurf

I seem to accidentally DSQ every race, app very buggy. It should not drop you out of a regatta for grabbing the app frame.

Good game.

Good game especially during isolation. Too bad they changed the “Day Racer” into a J70. The Melges 24 would have been a far superior choice.

Please expand tutorials

A Boy 62

I’m a sailing instructor and I think that there is some real teaching potential in this game. The sailing is very accurate, to the point that concepts from the game translate smoothly into the real world, and the existing tutorials are already solid. However, I think there are a few things that could be added to make this game a very useful teaching tool. The reason a sailing app would be so helpful is because one of the biggest difficulties that sailing instructors face is communication with their students. It is very difficult for us to give real-time feedback to our students because, on the water, you only have a few seconds to yell helpful information to someone before they have sailed off, unlike with other sports. As such, having this simulator to demonstrate concepts to students on land without the limitations of having to explain everything through a whiteboard or yelling it to them on the water is huge. Furthermore, a video game is far more appealing to kids than a typical chalk talk, so it would make kids more enthusiastic about learning. Making this game into a better teaching tool by making more extensive tutorials which cover concepts such as points of sail, sail trim, sail controls, bad air, or racing strategy would make this game into a popular app I can see a lot of clubs investing in, even if the tutorials cost a little bit of extra money. All-in-all, though, this game is thoroughly well done.
