Keeps crashing on open

The latest app update is causing a crash every time I open... there is also a significant delay in opening - it just circles, then crashes. The circling was a problem before recent updates: the crash is a new addition.
Why SO slow to load?

I have used The USAtoday app for many years and greatly enjoyed it. Over the last 3 months it is so slow to load I can’t wait the 5-6 min it takes. What happened? I’m on the most current version. My iPhone is up to date. I even subscribed to see if that helps. It didn’t. I’m going to cancel the subscription unless something improves quickly. CNN, ny times, Fox News app works fast. Help!!
Constant crashes

Also takes a long time to load. This did not happen before. Worse than ever.
