When I started using this app years ago i was happy to pay. Now I’m seeing the price has gone up and the features appear to be more limited with higher, more expensive tiers being introduced.

I’m a moderately active day hiker in the Adirondack area. I appreciate the improvements Over the last several years but a 50% price increase out of the blue is too much like “big pharma” for me. I received a reply from the developer that the app apparently made it clear that after a trial period, the price would increase. My bad if so but again and with due respect I can’t justify the cost/benefit for me and will Not renew for the Pro

It’s been a year now since I purchased the Topo app. I have to say, I’ve never felt more comfortable or received more support in any app. This is how all app developers should act. If you are looking for a map app which supports every imaginable option but does so with simplicity GET THIS APP. No, this is not a paid endorsement, these guys love what they do and do it very well. They use their own app, listen to feedback and are a always looking for ways to improve. Stephen’s e-mails provide great tips and keep you posted on the latest improvements. Way to go guys ... keep up the good work.

Topo maps is by far the best mapping app, bar none! The unlimited map layering with fading/shading capabilities leaves other apps scratching their heads. And with a plurality of other unique features you would be hard pressed to find and equal. Save yourself a headache and countless hours of hits and misses and download Topo maps

What a great app! Detailed maps of trails excluded from other apps and maps. If one map doesn’t show the trail, another map will. The only caution all users need to be mindful of is some of the trails you find using this app, but not found elsewhere, can be near bushwhacking, or a b***-busting trail that will challenge even the most capable hikers. The distinction is the less arduous trails tend to be shown on all the maps, so with a just a modicum of caution one can keep things properly managed. I love the trail planning capabilities. The snap-to-waypoint feature makes it exceptionally easy to plan a hike. Once the route is plotted, exact distance and elevation gains are provided, so a day’s hike can be planned that is as challenging as desired, or accommodating for the whole family. Thank you also for not requiring syncing with a cloud account to get all the features to plan and record hikes. I for one am not interested in having my information “out there” for others to potentially highjack. Some apps require an account, which smacks of them monetizing user data. Thanks very much for not going that route!
Not worth the free download

Don’t waste your time at the “free” level. I loaded the app and found the resolution unbearable. The details are unreadable. You will pay significant prices to upgrade to something actually comparable to the old paper hard copies. Useless at the free level. Can get more from the basic apps that are preinstalled on my phone.

I used to use this app all the time for hiking and trail finding. The new update recently is awful, there are hardly any trails left on the maps and the topo is worse quality. I’m sure you want us to all by the Pro version but I’ll be finding a different free app.
