ThumbJam makes use of tilt and shake to add vibrato, tremolo, note bends, and volume swells for more realistic and expressive results. It supports up to five (eleven on iPad) simultaneous touches and up to 32 voice polyphony, for each of up to 8 loaded instruments! Delay and stereo reverb add depth to the sound, and a resonant lowpass filter gives you more tone shaping power. Supports Audiobus and Inter-App-Audio for streaming sound to/from other apps in real-time, including state save/restore with Audiobus2.

This app is fantastic.. I’ve owned this since the first iPad one, and the developers keep on updating it years later. Amazing instrumentation tools, audio, etc. a truly professional app.

I am amazed at the versatility of this app. I don’t use it all the time, but occasionally if I need a specific sound played in unusual ways, this is my go to app. The only drawback I can think of would be to have a piano roll and a better way to handle loops. This makes a perfect looping app, having so many sounds, but the loop interface is very simple. That said, one can use it with all kind of looping apps as an add on. Aside from my DAW I’d say this is the best music making app on my phone.

I haven’t had enough time with this to give it a five, but looking through Sound I found trombone, and since that is my instrument, I decided to try it, not expecting too much, since other synths that do brass range from close but no cigar to just another synth note. I was startled to hear a real bone, and gliss, vibrato, and maybe even tremolo. Can’t wait to spend more time with this. The app name ought to be changed to something like Realjam. I am really impressed, because ,I, like many iPad Pro owners, have many many synths, and some of them can’t even begin to synth brass.

I love this app. I don't know much about music and many of the other apps I've downloaded we're just too difficult to use. With thumb jam, I can just noodle around and make pretty music. I've recorded some of my flutes as instruments and I can now play duets with myself. :-) Hint: choose a nice scale like C major or Blues Pentatonic Minor and all the notes sound good together. I wish some things were slightly easier like exporting and stuff like that, but otherwise I just have a lot of fun with this app.

I agree with the others on here. Thumb jam is truly very good but I'm only giving it 4 stars because of the layout. I'm a keyboard and pianist and I, wish these guys didn't have to shy away from the keyboard layout for playing the instruments. I truly HATE THIS LAYOUT TO DEATH!! Why'd they spoil such a great app and create this stupid layout. This app would, hands down, be a 5 star app but, the absence of the piano keys make it 3 stars. I don't use it because of this flaw. Well, Sonosaurus. I, tried my hardest to use this app which could very well be my favorite but after using again, I would give this app a ZERO if I could and this may be nit picky for some but I truly cannot get by this stupid layout of yours and I seriously mean this when I say that I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT ANY DEVELOPER IN THEIR RIGHT MIND THINKS THAT EVERYONE COULD LIKE THIS MORONIC-TYPE LAYOUT. It’s so FRUSTRATING to me because I really like the music sounds but as it stands, at least with me, I USE, SAMPLE TANK which has great sounds but they use the normal keyboard layout which is why Sample Tank gets a 5 STAR and Thumb Jam would get a ZERO if I could rate it that low. I would like a developer response to my review please. You skipped over my last review but we’ll see. Hmmm? Still no replies to my reviews, eh, sonosaurus? Once again, I held back from using this app that has great sounds. Why no reply? Another reason why I would give this app a zero if I could. THIS LAYOUT IS KEEPING ME FROM USING THIS APP! ITS, UGLY! ITS RIDICULOUS!! What the hell were you guys thinking when you made this app. A ZERO ALL THE WAY!!
