Trying to read an article brings me to an ad I can’t get past. No amount of swiping up down left or right gets me past the ad. Useless.

This app is terrible. Unusable. Cannot get any content at all. We subscribe to the print edition and they have decided it is mandatory if you subscribe to print that you also pay for online, but online does not work at all. If I had a choice I would not pay for the online edition. I am considering canceling print as well. It is very expensive and poor value for money. Price keeps going up year over year. Update: 12/20/17: The app seems to work now. But it starts playing sound all on its own. Infuriating. I cannot read in privacy because there is no way to shut off or prevent ads from sounding off. The Merc has nerve charging us for online access.

High pitch sound started to blast when this app opened followed shortly by audio Farmers add in the background. Have no idea what the problem is.

Was a great source for Bay Area news, but they don't tell you in the description is you can only view a handful of articles and then you have to pay for the service. Poor decision, hey Merc not only were you losing subscribers to the internet, now you've also lost you're online followers to the internet. Can't seem to get any business practice right. Thanks google news for being the best source for Bay Area news!!!

This News App is not too bad, but using their PC website is very painful. It keeps asking for subscription and other news web sites do not ask. The SJ Mercury news needs to learn a way to remove this problem and find a way to get $s to support their non subscribers

So far this is a pretty good app for me, since I live in Alaska and a Raidernation fan. I enjoy this app for what I need, it keeps me inform around the Bay Area and San Jose.

Organization of the information doesn't match the physical paper, or anything else I'm familiar with. It's difficult to "look back" into previous days or track a story line; every search means starting from scratch. So basically, very poor indexing, making this app almost entirely useless.

I have subscribed to the Merc for forty years. Sad to see the demise of print media. The Merc app helps but the big issue is how to make news pay. Without adequate income, any business suffers or fails. Developing better digital news channels is a necessary start.
