Frustrating

Angel orange

I am a first time user for GreatCourses and I am finding it very frustrating that the app is not syncing to where I left off.

Works well

Hadrap

Everything works well. My only comment is that it doesn’t work so well with driving in that it you can’t go back if you focus on driving for a bit and it keeps playing if your GPS cuts in.

Great but can’t back-up

Researcher!guy

The courses and the access are great, but it drives me crazy that I cannot back up 15 seconds to replay something important. I listen to a science and philosophy, and sometimes just have to hear something a second time.

Useless

bsxcui

Useless. Can’t download courses

Great Content, App is pretty bad

Elimarg

I suspect a desire to protect content is behind the slow download times and checking in with the internet before playing, but since I have bought the content I would like easier access.

The information is great. The app stinks

Svh1996

Clearly the people behind his app have never actually used a podcast app. There’s no way from the lock screen to rewind or forward 30 seconds. The app resets if you pause using a Bluetooth headset. The descriptions and show notes are not easily accessible.

Awesome

Marshal1bcso

It works great for me. I enjoy being able to view the courses where ever I am.

This is the Best

Great Courses Go! So much learning is packed into a easy to use app! ?

Would be better if they talked to the customer in development.

Overall I like the app, except for one huge programming design aspect. Yes, your courseware comes with a virtual version of the course notes. However, the viewer for the course notes is so archaic that it is impossible to really examine the course notes, especially while listing or watching a lecture. There are no options/controls as to how to view the notes. You are stuck in landscape page width mode. It does not rotate with the iPad or iPhone to portrait viewing. You cannot zoom to full page view. There is no saving what page you are on. The is no page turn button; you must swipe up and scroll. You cannot even print a page for reading. So if you wish to follow along with your courses, forget it. Why not just give me a pdf that I can read in a reader, like iBooks? I think we can be too extreme on piracy protection, if that is the reason for not doing this. (However, I think they just went cheap in the design.) First of all, I paid for the material. The copy of the material becomes my personal property upon purchase. According to the law course taught in the courseware, I have ownership rights to that property. Ownership rights means I can control the property that I own. The ridiculous restrictions on the viewing of the notes affords me no ability to exercise control on this property to make it useful to me. And again, according to law course, property rights are a fundamental natural right, extending back to before the Magna Carta. Therefore my natural rights are denied by this software. Take your own courses, learn agile methods of programming and include the voice of the customer in your design.

Great courses. App needs variable speed controls

Semery101

I love the Great Courses. But I love listening to them when I can speed them up a little sometimes. Some of the professors speak very slowly, which can be helpful at times. But other times, it makes me want to listen to them on something else. And the something else isn’t always available.
