An Ode to Old Cracked

Random Hero 28

Dear E.W. Scripps, You have ruined Cracked. After spending 39 Million to acquire a beloved website, you've effectively run it into the ground. Not only is this app garbage, but you've now made the decision to rely on cheap, hacked together content in lieu of talented comedians and writers. You have failed every fan of this website and I'm writing this review in the hopes that your stodgy management is the next to go. We have to pay the price for your poor management, pathetic business acumen, and deep misunderstanding of why Cracked was great in the first place. I wish you no luck and a future of continued on each star reviews, you deserve it. You ruined a comedy icon and an American institution.

Down the Drain

Joshhh1

Congrats to the company who bought Cracked. You took a site that was filled to the brim with talented writers and you decided that the easiest way to make more money was to fire them and hire nobodies. The app never worked well, but at least it had some good content. Now it’s worthless. I’m deleting this app. Good riddance.

Buggy on iPhone X

joewwwwwway

Doesn’t work on iPhone X. Please fix it

Ads and Propaganda

If you love ads and liberal propaganda then this app is for you

Doesn’t work well on iPhone X

Tangeriness

It’s almost impossible to back out of an article with the position of the back arrow. Also all text under photos just repeats over the previous line, so if the caption is longer than one line it’s impossible to read.

Really buggy

Youthless

It’s tough to read articles on this. Characters and text glitch out. Captions never appear correctly and overlap into one line. The top of the display glitches out into a black bar that blocks the time on iPhone X, and the left swipe gesture (which is back in most other apps) opens a menu. The back arrow is sometimes inaccessible. That being said the interface looks slick and was probably really nice closer to release. I would pay money for this (like, $3?) since I love to read Cracked, but having to deal with these issues is really discouraging.

Big mistake. Huge.

This is a bad app, but it always has been. I’ve dealt with it for years because it was the best way to read cracked on mobile. Now I won’t be reading cracked on any device because they torpedoed their talent and blunted their edge. If I wanted shallow, vaguely amusing listicles, I would read buzzfeed. This is how you lose someone who’s been a devoted reader for 10 years. (this is not about cracked being political; that content was good when the site was good.)

Do not try to read older links

Lord of No Rings

The links to most older post are glitch prone and crash mid reading. Pretty crazy for a app that specializes with readability content.

Very flawed

jodekerk

There is zero advantage to using this app over your device’s browser. Photo captions are unreadable because the text is superimposed over itself on the screen. The comment editor is completely unusable from the app (no cursor, spell check capability, etc). Meanwhile, if I use Chrome or Safari for iOS, the article layout is identical to the app, but the comment editor actually looks and works the way it’s supposed to, and I can actually read the photo captions. This has been the state of things for over a year.

iPhone X issues

Gjguvuvuvuv

Buttons at the top are unable to be pressed on the iPhone X, once an article is open I cannot go back to any other articles or menu options and have to close the app. Genuinely enjoy content but can not access it without this issue getting resolved
