My sign up ended when they ask for a UK postcode. I live in America and don’t have a UK address. Does that mean I can’t use the app?

A simple app where you can check your balance, top up, see your journeys. Would be great if you could top up via Apple Pay rather than having to input your credit card. Anything beyond that, you’re better off logging onto the main Oyster site.

I tried to top up my card with my US billing address credit card and the app refused to accept the country and kept correcting it to GB when I went to pay - not very useful for people who don’t live in Great Britain! I’ll stick to my physical card.

If you don’t have a UK address, this app is unusable. My family is on vacation in London and we’re getting the hang of public transportation. Unfortunately, there is no way to know what we’ve spent or what the balances on our Oyster cards are. This not how you encourage tourists to use, what is otherwise, a fine public transit system.

I Needed to check value remaining and it worked perfectly to do that. I did not try to top off using the app, so I cannot speak to that.

As an American staying in London for holiday, I don’t have a local UK mailing address, nor a UK bank account. Why can someone traveling not top off an Oyster card? Will the terrorist win if I do?

A really great looking app that is simple to use as a tourist from another country. Makes the stress of transportation in a foreign country disappear!

Wanted to use it while visiting London but it requires a UK address. Why? Visitors can”t use London transit?

Non-UK residents can’t use this app. There is no way to create an account and no way to bypass the sign in requirement. Completely useless for visitors. I have an OysterCard sitting in front of me, but I will have to wait until I get back to London and in front of a kiosk to recharge. Not surprising given TfL, but this should be mentioned in the app description.

Why can’t I log into my own account when outside of the UK? Why can’t I manage my UK-based oyster card when I travel abroad? And don’t even get me started on the lack of basic app features one expects from any serious organization who decides to enter the world of phone apps. If you’re going to do it, at least get the basics right! :-( signed, not-proud-Londoner
