Not useful for tourists

Payment card having to be a UK address makes this app completely useless to tourists.

This app is woefully barren! Among other things I and other reviews believe it needs, there is no option to change the billing country for the payment card! I split my time between London and NYC, I don’t want to have to open a bank account in the UK just to top off my oyster card! Get it together!

How can an international city like London not support credit cards not based in UK?! What about travelers who split their time between US & UK. There are tons of us. Such a pain and absolutely useless app. Get with the times TFL.
Doesn’t even show balance

The one thing this app is supposed to do – it doesn’t do. The balance of the Oyster card the app shows is generally 24 to 48 hours behind. So in reality, while this app may show a number, it has no connection to what your balance really is at the moment. What is the point of this app then? You certainly cannot rely on it to ensure you have enough balance for a ride.
Does not support visitor cards

App could be loads better. We bought pre-loaded visitor cards but after 3 days of traveling had no idea how much remained or if it’d get us to the airport. Downloaded the app to find out but no such luck. It doesn’t work with visitor cards and the trip planner doesn’t tell you the fare cost between two locations. Greatly needs improvement.

I intentionally downloaded the app so that I could keep tabs on the balance of my Visitor Oyster Card. Found out as I attempted to register my card that the app does not support it.
Literally nonfunctional in every possible way

There is nothing about this app that works. First, I can't top up without a UK credit card. Second, you can't add the same card multiple times which is obnoxious because if you change devices or need to keep track of a friend's card you're screwed. Third, in order to register you need to remember exactly where you were at a random time the day before. I have horrible memory and am rarely in london... how the heck am I supposed to know what number bus line I was on at 12:55 yesterday? Fourth, my app never shows the correct amount. This must be the worst part... it says you have five pounds and you trust it but when you get to the gates it says go to h*ll, you have no money. Horrible.

I am a tourist traveling to London and it's asking me where I used the card before I even got it and arrived! There is no "I didn't have the card back then" option.

This app is useless for holders of the Oyster Visitor Card. Don’t waste your time.

I live in the UK and I am on the American iTunes store. I think this app works best with these to factors. It's simple, quick, fast and does everything that I need on a day to day level. Like top ups and travel cards. Anything complex I go to the tfl site. Which is rare. Thanks Tfl. ??
