I never write reviews but this app is worth it. Bought after five minutes. Easy decision for me. I am a lifelong musician and use apps like this for music writing on the go. I can see using this one more and more for exporting chord midi to use in my desktop DAW. Great feature! The UI is clean and the sampled chords clear and easy play. The ability to play in the background has already been super useful for allowing me to solo over the looped audio using a second phone app. I can tell great care went into Suggester. Quality stuff. Excellent work devs. Based on using the app, I would love to see 3 improvements: 1) Increase the length of a whole note chord so that it sustains until the end of beat 4 (or) make a sustain option that would do this for you when enabled. 2) Create a “copy chord” option that would let you tap on an existing chord in a document and create a copy of the chord that is inserted immediately below the one selected. This would improve workflow tremendously as right now you have to menu dive for the same chord then drag it up to the correct spot in the list. Tedious when working with lots of duplicate chords... 3) Create a new type of document object that when placed within a section allows the section to repeat x number of times before moving on to the next section. For example, I want my Verse section chords to repeat 4 before moving on to the Chorus section. If I could write the chords to my Verse once instead of 4 times and have the app play them for me instead of recreating them 4 times, it would save so much time workflow wise!

I have use this app to create new songs I would never have done by just doodling on the guitar. I use it when I need inspiration.

Please fix the sound issue. I can barely hear the chords on my phone speaker, even with the sound turned all the way up.

I like the ease of use, selecting chords and note patterns is fast. Midi triggering of chords is great. I also really like that there are no measures, because it liberates the song writing process. However, it needs a copy and paste function within the app, and/or some way of repeating song sections - like verse verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus. Currently, sections have to be typed in repeatedly. Rests are needed. Features that would be great: midi trigger for song sections, voicings/inversions of chords, tempo changes, volume changes.

More an audio dictionary than any kind of aid to writing chord sequences, much less songs. It only has 3 basic sounds/instruments to hear your notes & chords, and they’re pretty thin/minimal. The name is a stretch, too, as the app’s ‘Suggestions’ basically amount to... long lists of the notes in various chords and scales! Wow. I regret having paid for it. Not worth much to me at all as a writing tool.

Every time I try to pick a scale, the app freezes. When I close the app and try to open the app again, the app won’t start up. I’m interested on what this app can do for me but it won’t even let me get started.

So many other apps "wimp out" when it comes to "Jazz Chords"! This APP is great for jazz composing! Especially for those of who might know these chords on guitar but aren't familiar with them on keyboard. The Vibes sound is particularly cool! Wide and FULL PALETTE of chords and nearly infinite variation! These good folks stay on top of their updates as well. The ONLY thing I WISH I could do..... is play the sting section of GarageBand by somehow accessing the chord voicings from Suggester!!!! Thanks! G

This is a well thought out, highly useful writing tool that helps you flesh out chord changes quickly and easily. Whether you need to check the flow of a chord sequence, or you want to play and experiment with the suggested chords, this is a great tool that happens to be a lot of fun.
