Well Done

Many compare this title to FTL. And while I understand the reference, I feel a stronger comparison lies with Firefly. Not with regards to character development or engaging story arcs often pepper with subtle twists. No, Star Chindy compares to Firefly, especially when playing endless mode, in that you begin your journey as a basic crew just trying to survive each jump. And each jump can either teach you lessons to keep yourself alive, reward or punish you without reason, or give you a much needed free turn to repair your ship and heal your crew. You don't belong to any organization, at least in endless mode, so all that matters is keeping your ship and crew going. The combat overall is deep enough that no one aspect will expect more attention than another. Space can be micro managed or simply set on cruise as you hope your load outs will suffice. While no einsteins, the A.I is sufficient enough that auto fighting is a viable option if you find your finger accuracy lacking. The option for manual is there, but not necessarily required. Ground combat and the crew themselves are very satisfying aspects of combat. The maps are not giant warehouses that require extensive traveling nor are they paintball arenas disguised as settings for conflicts. Upgrading the crew, as well as the ships themselves, is a little more involved than in FTL in that you can buy and sell ship parts as well as crew equipment at space stations. Your crew requires gear if you expect them to stand up to whatever the universe throws at them. Fuel doesn't exist but the ship and crew repair/heal system ensures you'll still be taking note of your stores obsessively. I highly recommend this game to any who enjoy a quick, though deep and engaging, romp through space building a small band of ships, and the crew who maintain it, as you travel through space just trying to survive your next jump and bring everyone home alive.

Simply awesome!!!

I'm surprised that this game didn't get more press because it's a well thought out game with clean interface, good game play, and great value without any IAP!!! There are 2 strategy play with real time and turn base and it may sound confusing but it isn't. The real time is where you pilot a fleet or few ships to start off with. The enemy ships will attack as you move the ships to strategically to flank and out shoot them. One can upgrade the ships with better defense and weapons and as one wins the battle, you are given several types of resources to upgrade your fleet or squad. The turn base portion where you start off with 3 units but can upgrade their skills, weapons, among the other items as well. This is almost like Xcom where cover is the key from getting killed. Overall there are tons of random events that happens and it's a rogue game where you die like in the FTL but not dying as much. Overall for the price, it's a solid strategy game. Improvements: please add cloud save because I have several devices and want to pick up and play where I left off.

Great Game
Thomble

This game is one of the best on the App Store. The space combat and tactical battles are a great way to split up the game. The developers helped respond to an issue I thought I had. Just wasn't giving the game long enough to load. The response time was less than a few hours. Thank You for putting out a Great Game like this and Thank You for your assistance.

Love it.

It's nearly perfect. Space battles are all right, but your weapon systems turn off and you have to turn them back on - or else your fleet happily gets shot up without fighting back. Sometimes the enemy fleet spawns right on top of your ships, which destroys your support ships immediately. The English is poorly translated. I really liked the turn based battles though, you move and try and predict where the enemy is going. It's fun doing that, but many maps just get repeated with new units. I recommend the game, but it could have been better. Still a really great game for the price.

Hidden Gem

This game truly has ambition! Though a little bit rough around the edges, it has everything that an aspiring space captain would want. In this exquisite little game, you get real-time ship to ship combat, turn-based land combat with your crew, multiple choices and branching paths, ship upgrades, crew upgrades, ship classes, recruitable crew, random events, anime-style drawings (if that's your thing), a campaign mode, and even an endless mode. Gameplay can be a little wonky at times, so I suggest using the slow-down button during the real-time space battles. Land battles play a lot like "Frozen Synapse," although simpler. Graphics are fine especially for an ipad, the sound is a bit on the tinny side as you have to zoom in on your ships to hear the lasers and missles and explosions, and the loadtime can be a bit lengthy (when you start the game up). But other than that, it's a fun game for those who like this sort of genre. The star-map is a bit bland but it gets the job done, and there are also some typos in the dialogue, but I think that can be forgiven, since the developers are Korean as far as I know. Oh, and did I mention, no IAPs! You pay once and get everything. Call me old-school, but that's how you're supposed to do a game! Ever since the release of FTL, a lot of developers have been trying to get that magical formula of success. This game, though similar to FTL in some aspects, makes its own identity. This game is a rough diamond and I hope it does well.

Great game, worth the 3 dollars.

Xcom and FTL had a baby; and it's good. Real good. If you like space ships, tactical play, RPGs, equipment, a story, etc. - you'll like this game. Please give it a try and thank me later.

This game is gonna be huuuuge

Total hidden gem. I went digging for something new- found this. Fantastic strategy game. It should have 500 5 star ratings.

An Incredible Game at an Incredible Price!
Eriptron

This it not the review I was going to write. I was trying to balance my criticisms with my compliments. And I was starting to get aggravated because even the slightest mistake ANYWHERE spells your DOOM either now or later, but it'll be there none the less. It got to the point that I'd immediately start a new game when I made a known mistake even. Then actually deleting it, then re-installing it after a couple hours! LOL Game play, itself, is straight forward and really not a whole lot to it. The game intensity during ship and foot combat action, though, is 'crazy'! The depth of game play itself is incredible! The day after buying it I found the App store screenshot I took as a reminder to check it out and I remembered that it was just $2.99! Now, as has been pointed out already, it's still a little rough around the edges, but I've not hated a game so thoroughly since Faster Than Light! You want to get really angry at some space aliens and then kick their butt, for just several bucks, grab Star Chindy!

Nice rougelike

So far so good and at a great price for what it delivers, a tactical based game, with a great story line. Let you know more as I get further .
