Great idea, subpar execution

I use this app a lot to host fitness challenges which have motivated me to stay active. I’ve been doing this for about three or four nows, so I have a lot of experience with the app. There are a lot of glitches I run into. 1. Sometimes my check-in videos never upload 2. The location for check-ins is always waaaaay off (it will say I’m in Chicago when I’m in LA, and this is true for all players) 3. When I search for friends to add to challenges the app often cannot find them, or will only find them if I spell 3/4 of their name (weird) The most frustrating glitch is how difficult it is for players to find my challenges. They don’t seem to receive the invitations unless I send them repeatedly, and sending a link via text does not work either. Overall, Spar gets the job done so I still use it. I’d like them to figure all these issues out though before another app comes along with the same idea and better execution.

I spent weeks in different challenges only to never be paid. This company takes an ungodly 10% and then finds loopholes to avoid paying anything for your efforts. Not to mention, the challenge moderator can arbitrarily decide who pays penalties and who doesn’t. Very high risk vs reward to boot. One would be better off playing the stock market.

Glitches

This app is a phenomenal concept. Not only does it motivate you to complete tasks but it connects you with a community of users who are doing the same thing. The glitches in the app are very evident and at times extremely aggravating. However it is also evident that spar is working on it. I participate in less challenges than I originally did due to the glitches but in the future I can assume these will be fixed.

Recent Update is Bugging Out

So I’ve been using this app for about 2 months now and I hate the new update. It’s constantly freezing and the most annoying part to me is when people comment on a video you can’t quick click and view the video from the chat. I also do not like that you can’t “rewind” when viewing the workouts, like tapping the right side of the screen would fast forward and tapping the left side would rewind. Overall it’s a wonderful idea if you need to be held accountable for whatever your goal may be. A great community of seemingly like minded individuals.

Good concept, needs refined

This app seems like something right up my alley and I was exciting to hear about it. After making an account, I was unable to view any challenges. I just get a white screen when I select “Join a Challenge” on an iPhone X. I’ve tried redownloading 3 times to no avail. Bummer. UPDATE: You must acquire a link to join a challenge. I wish there was a way to find upcoming challenges.

Installed, and when I try to use it, it asks for my phone number. After I enter my number it just says “invalid token” and there doesn’t appear to be any other way to move forward.

If you actually want to do things that you know you need to do but can’t find the motivation to do it, you should try this app. I’ve done things like practicing piano, stretching, kettlebell swings, pushups, and dance challenges, just to name a few. Really fun!

Great app, but UI needs an overhaul

I’ve been waiting a long time for a great accountability app like this. This app gets the job done with motivating me to accomplish various goals. My only complaint is the user interface and lack of features preventing this app from being perfect. My suggestions 1) Each challenge needs its own page (similar to a Facebook event) where the creator can write a description of the challenge along with rules/requirements instead of having to explain via the chat 2) chat needs a feature to mute all but who you follow or the creator. I don’t like being bothered by numerous notifications from people having their own private conversation in the chat. 3) ability to search for challenges/ categories of challenges. Currently I can touch the “join a challenge” but it’s blank. Not sure if it’s just a glitch with my app, but it would be nice to search for specific challenges Otherwise I love the app and am looking forward to improvements in the future!

App Crashing

UPDATE: the Spar team was quick to help fix the issues yesterday and had my app running again by the end of the day. Great customer service! I’ve been using the app for a few weeks now and since the latest update a couple days ago my app keeps crashing when I open it. I’ve tried deleting it, restarting my phone and nothing works.

Interesting concept but the UI and UX is lacking. I tried to join a contest that was posted by someone on Twitter but was unable to find the challenge. So far as I can tell there is no way to search for challenges nor to join new challenges other than the 5 featured challenges on the main screen. I’ll consider this app in the future but it’s not worth any time now
