not worth it

tested it on my sound system and it just maxes out. not really that cool. i cant calculate how loud it is. it just stops at 111 even with the sensitivity turned down.

Pretty decent App
CGD12345

Although I didn't find a chance to try this app out on extremely loud noises, it seems to be fairly accurate or at least in the ballpark for most typical levels of sound. The only problem I have with it is the panel label that says "sensitivity". The sensitivity knob should actually be labeled "Damping". If you change the sensitivity of an instrument, you change the whole scale of readings. Damping just quiets the needle down to give a steadier average reading which is what this knob does. All in all, I like the app a lot. .

Great App
Johnny Boy 1

While I'm DJaying, it tells me exactly what I need to know about my sound level. It seems to be very consistent.

It works
Epal & Oren

I don't have a lab sound meter so I don't know how off is the app's accuracy. But when I compared this to Noise Sniffer, they both get pretty precise result. Precise = similar

Fun and useful

Anyone looking to add to their steampunk toolbox should check this out. Great graphics, works well.

Useful but poor labeling
totallyfrozen

As an SLP, my spouse uses this app as needed to measure the speaking volume of her clients. Seems to work well enough for that. I've used it to measure the volumes of lecturers and ambient noise in rooms. As another reviewer said "sensitivity" should be labeled "dampen" or "attenuate" because it actually DECREASES the sensitivity as you move the dial up Max. You'd actually expect and INCREASE in sensitivity when the dial is Max'd the way the label is currently written. Aside from that issue, we're pleased with the app overall. I'd like to see some functionality added, of course.

Analog days.

The oscilloscope is a nice extra.

Problem Solved!
SJP-iPad

I am helping out the wife in her Dentist office. Music in the office comes from one of my old iPods. Some playlists are louder than others and she constantly wants the volume adjusted. This app has solved that. I can start a music session, use this to check the level, make the adjustment and no more complaints about the loudness of the music. Super app!

Cool and Useful

This is a very cool app! And, as I read other reviews I began to see real and practical uses that got me thinking as well. So, just how much louder are those dang commercials anyway? :-) Seriously well worth the 99 cents. Sensitivity control is backwards to my thinking also ...

None

Maximum 105 decibels! Not enough to measure car stereos, airplanes, roller coasters and other loud stuff. They didn't disclose this; I wouldn't have bought it.
