Have found no variance from the original hard copy to this format. The sound effects add 2 the experience. A hands-down must for a fan of Steve Jackson. The inclusive spell book is a bonus only a true fan would appreciate. Highly recommend.

This is the one game I recommend to anyone I get on the topic with, gamer or no. It’s an incredibly beautiful and immersive choose-your-own-adventure series. I’ve played through all four parts several times and I always find myself searching the App Store for new games that are similar. I just wrote my first App Store review on one of those searches! That’s how much this game sticks with you.

Wonderful game play BUT it is wayyy to short and you have to buy the next part of the game... Not cool

Was an OK game. Not action packed or graphic rich like the 5 star reviews claim. Reading and decision making, just like the 'choose your fate' books of the past with the addition of sliding your finger to engage in a battle. If you're a slow reader the game may take 6-8 hours. If you catch on quick, 3-5. The cost was steep, but the amount of hype put into the reviews made it seem worth while (hmmmm). Glad I did not purchase part 2 or '80 days'. Kept me busy for about 2 hours on two consecutive nights. Cheaper than going to an over-priced over-hyped movie.

Inkle’s presentation and gameplay mechanics are absolutely stellar. Unfortunately the material they chose to present is not. Steve Jackson simply cannot come up with an interesting or entertaining story to save his soul, and I’ve looked at numerous of his books. I wish that Inkle had chosen the Grail*Quest series instead, by J.H. Brennan. _His_ writing has a lot of character and humor, which Jackson’s does not. I’m glad I got this first installment just to see first-hand the wonderful gameplay and presentation that Inkle does, but I doubt very much that I’ll be continuing in this series. The story puts me to sleep.

I played 80 days, then I played this (actually, I'm still playing 80 days) and these are my favorite games I've played on the iPhone! Please keep up the good work!! Totally worth my money and time!

My type of game. Can rewind and replay any part you want so you can go with your gut and don't have to overthink anything. I really enjoyed it. I wonder why on earth anyone wouldn't grab the spell book in the beginning though...

The game is fun with some replayability but for the price the game is too short to be worth it.

There is a scenario late in the game involving a witch that inevitably leads to death. This is due to taking away your options by disabling spell casting by saddling you with a companion you can't reject. Dumb.
