It’s been a real joy and challenge to be able to return to one of my childhood hobbies. Now as a parent I’ve been programming somethings for my kiddos. If you are fluent or semi-fluent in Basic and want to create, you will appreciate this app guaranteed. It’s the best I’ve found in the App Store.

I have been retired for 8 years and haven't written any code since then. I wanted to write a program that helped me get better information from my blood glucose logging. This Smart Basic has been very good for that purpose. I would have liked a few more examples in the documentation, but I was able to figure things out as I needed.

It's the best of the iOS interpreters I've found so far. It certainly is feature rich. Only a few things keeps it from getting five stars. First, The skins it comes with are "cute" or unreadable. Second, there is no real support website. Clicking on App Support takes you to a forum...which would be Ok if it actually worked. I've been waiting for a confirmation email for days. The forum is how you access the SDK and manuals, make suggestions etc. Third, the only way to bring external files into the environment is Dropbox. It is not at all clear how to make that happen. The icons added when Dropbox is enabled are cryptic at best...and there is no manual except through the forum which I can't get to. Finally, there is access to sequential files which is good, but access to random access files would put icing on the cake. Still, I recommend this product. It has a ton of features for the paltry cost.

just paid for the app. wont even start up. want a refund. cant even register on support site. how is someone supposed to know how to answer a security question they dont know the answer to.
An excellent BASIC

This BASIC interpreter is excellent. It provides users the ability to write programs which can do real work, real games, real science. But the most important thing about this interpreter is the willingness of its developer to take suggestions, extend the language and rapidly produce new versions. That makes using smartBASIC a real joy.

I really appreciate having a way to write and implement quick run-time programs. I looked at other apps, but they require wi-fi access to compile (not to mention money to compile). That's not an option when you are trying to hack a time-saving program out in the field away from Internet access. Thanks very much for a very useful app!
Five Stars Easy

This is a phenomenal breakthrough for the AppStore. I've been wanting a basic language that was actually useable and now there is one. About time. Hoping this app expands and maybe other basic programming apps will come along.
Great, but takes some effort to get started

Downloaded and installed the program. An attractive splash screen comes up, but nothing happens. No indication of what to do next. Would not load anything. Tried to contact forum at Kibernetik.pro, but timed out repeatedly over a period of 7 days. Finally discovered that pressing the folder icon repeatedly gave me the option to create a new folder, and thereafter all other icons came alive. Perhaps I was just too impatient. Documentation appears under the book icon, and be aware that most icons are context-sensitive.
