Sight Words Hangman is an application where your child learns the most frequently used English words without sounding the words out letter by letter.

The game is simple, utilizing touch screen operations, colorful and comical graphics to persuade your child to play and learn. Sight Words Hangman begins by ”Selecting a List”, and touching the word “Repeat” to listen to the word. The child hears and views the word then makes their selection by pressing on the word that they think is correct. If the child chooses the correct sight word, then they automatically advance to the next word. If the child guesses the incorrect word, a body part of the hangman shows up on the screen and then the child is given 5 more opportunities to guess the correct answer. If the child would like to hear the sight word again, they can press the “repeat” button to hear the word again and pick another answer. The child can see their score at the end of the game so they can try to improve their score the next time.

About SightWords as stated on Wikipedia.org…

Sight words are pronounced without decoding the word's spelling. Effectively, an alphabetic writing system is made into an ideographic writing system. Unfortunately, speakers of ideographic languages have to spend a much longer time learning to read because of the sheer volume of symbols they must memorize. A common first sight word is a child's given name. Beginning readers are at an advantage when they learn to read sight words that occur frequently in print such as those included on the Dolch and Fry word lists.

Suitability:
- Children who want to learn on their own
- Pre-Schoolers, Kindergarteners and First Graders
- People learning the English language
- Entertain your kids with learning
- Teachers or Parents who use flash cards

Not at all like hangman
Ptownmoofus

The sound doesn’t work no matter what settings I adjust and I just see a list of words. No letters. I don’t get it. How is this hangman? There are no instructions that I can find. Only a complaint from another user about the sound under the help section.

My Son Always Wants To Play...

I bought the Sightword Hangman App because it looked like a fun and educational tool for my son. And it is exactly that. My son likes the funny hangman character and I like the learning aspect. Now when we do flashcards together, he seems to pick up the words faster. I know it is because of the Sightword Hangman App.

Good learning tool

I bought this to help my daughter who is currently in kindergarten. So far she likes to play and I can already see some improvement after a short time. This will be our daily routine until she masters all the words.

Brilliant

Love love love this app!!!! Great new words with sight words from seasons and from classrooms!!!! My 2 sons ages 4 and 7 love it and can't get enough! Especially love the voice, human like everyday people! clear concise and to the point, not those annoying fairy tale sounds that you usually hear in most apps for children!!!!

Learning is fun!

My son loves this game. It provides another way to introduce and then reinforce these essential words. We have lists of words that my son reads to me but this game provides another aspect of learning. Just this week at my Parent/Teacher conference I was told to say the Sight Words and have my son locate them. This app does that for us without the use of Flash Cards and in a fun way. Thank you for making learning fun!

I wish we had this app last year.

This app is perfect for the emmerging reader. A parent or teacher can set up a child to review sight words that the child is learning in a fun and engaging app. I plan on using this app in the car or while waiting in line for my second grader to work on some new sight words. My seven year old played several rounds and enjoyed the challenge of showing me all of the words that he knew how to read. Perhaps a future version will have word definitions or words in another language.

I anticipate that this will be great for those students who struggle reading their sight words out loud. Just what I was looking for!

My kids really enjoyed this game. It's actually quite challenging and fun. I highly recommend it as a tool for teaching kids spelling of sight words.
