Have been using the Shopify POS app for 2 years now without issue. I recently did the upgrade and regret it. It's virtually impossible to enter a new customer's name when checking them out. The screen freezes at the email section and won't let you scroll up to enter their name. When you enter their email, hit next and try to move on with the transaction it's completely unresponsive. Then there is no button that allows you to go back into the order. I had to shut down the app multiple times while checking out customers. I resorted to entering the customer information in the notes section and then going back in later into the order to enter the customer details. I'm a fan of Shopify but I'm total disappointed with this upgrade and am considering switching to Square for POS.

Latest build a huge step back

Gdv1213

I have been a big fan of Shopify so far but the latest update really has some big issues and even missing functionality compared to previous builds 1. The pictures on the product grid used to be big and beautiful, making it easy for my employees to identify the over 500 products I have in the store VISUALLY. Since (like many many small businesses) I do not use UPC's or barcodes in my shop, large pictures are CRITICALLY important in making sales. I spent a lot of time making sure that each of my products has clear and well lit pictures on an isolated background when I added them to Shopify, but now the pictures are not only cropped at the top and bottom, but the grid containing them has an extra row or column, making everything smaller. 2. I use relatively long and descriptive title is for my items which I can now barely read past the second word since so many items are crammed on the grid. The padding between individual cells is too large and there's A whole ribbon of wasted space on the bottom of the screen simply to hold the words "page 1 of X" 3. In the previous version of the app you could press and hold over a product with a variant and as you scroll through each individual very end it showed you the picture that you had established for each variant. Now, the picture stays exactly the same so it's impossible to visually distinguish what the differences between the variants. Why has this feature been removed? 4. The app over all seems sluggish and unresponsive. I am getting many of the same errors previous reviewer's have already pointed out on this build, and even something as simple as scrolling between pages of products happens with a lot of stuttering and nowhere near as smooth as previous builds. Crammed design on mobile apps and sluggish performance was exactly the reason I switched AWAT from my previous POS provider and it was a shame to see it happening again here with Shopify Shopify, PLEASE fix these issues soon! My business depends on it!

Ugh - please test before rolling out updates

The Shopify folks are great & generally super helpful but this latest update is a BIG FAIL. Please work overtime to solve these issues we are all having. A crashing checkout app in front of a customer is embarrassing & frankly unacceptable when I'm being charged as much as you guys are charging. A credit towards those charges as a "sorry for all the trouble" would also help. Hope you are seeing these comments and are on it @Shopify.....

Lacking across the board

De Keir

Let me start by saying our website and backend inventory are excellent, and we think Shopify did a great job with that being the focus. The POS and hardware is a different story. With all the hardware being plugged into AC and having a reliable wifi network, the receipt printer, card reader and barcode scanner still intermittently turn off or glitch out. The accepting of cash in the system needs to be redone, it is not intuitive and difficult to fix if you input the wrong amount. The numbers and calculations are very small font and difficult to read for our older employees. Again, Shopify and its customer support are excellent, but this POS software needs a serious overhaul.

Can't open app!

App won't open on my phone. What's up with that?

Buggy

We have used Shopify POS for the last 3-4 years and it used to work quite well. Since the update it's hard to complete some basic functions. One of which is adding a customer after the transaction has gone through. Next is sales tax. Right now both my iPad based systems can no longer pickup the right sales tax rate. This has to get fixed asap. For someone that does pop-ups around the us this is a major but that shouldn't have made it into the production version. Please FIX this.

New user. It’s ok.

Please add a notification feature to the app when an online purchase is made. Chip reader worked the first time but not the second. Had to manually enter card info because it recognized the card as a chip card and refused to swipe it. Bluetooth disconnects once the phone locks, FYI.

Flawless products

Shopify products have been very helpful. Card reader has been working perfectly and Bluetooth option is very convenient and has worked every time

No calculated shipping option or PayPal payment

Oytrfgds

We are a print on demand business and the pos app doesn’t calculate shipping when we enter a customers informattion. So instead we have to process all our sales while at a conference or on the road through the website but have to manually enter the credit card information. Also the pos system doesn’t give an option for a costumer to pay with PayPal. I love Shopify but i am surprised they have the way I de par pos app

Not good as Square company

Fobnart

Just got my reader and I don’t like it! 1. The proceedings is to long. When you use Square you just price charge and you can swipe a card. But here you need to press so many buttons. 2. There is no tips menu like Square have. 3. You cannot put custom fees... Will use Square even if I have my Shopify store...
