Here's a winner! It's new, fresh and intuitive. Now it takes my digital photos and turns them into digital art. It's all about manipulating color-so forget about those boring same old same old filters. Take a chance for a buck and step up your game.
A complex tool for intuitive work/play

A long-time lover of decim8, when I got the notification of a new app from this developer, I came over to the App Store and got it without reading the description. No questions asked--decim8 is that good. Satur8 hasn't disappointed. It is so deeply tweakable, flexible, that it will take some time to learn. It's an app to explore and develop one's own way of using. The customizable gradients at the core of the app allow for astonishing variety, and the ability to alter the alpha Chanel for each band in the gradient separately is a great idea. The fx and blending modes and ability to render alterations and add more makes the possibilities feel bottomless. The ability to save gradients one creates is a great feature. More shapes would be welcome, and it would be great to be able to work in and reorder layers as the app develops. Some way to pick gradient colors from the photo would also be great. If the continual development of decim8 is any indication, users of satur8 are in for a great ride. Congrats to the developer. This is destined to become a favorite.
So Very Disappointing

You have absolutely *no* idea just how badly I wanted to love this app. I am a photographer and artist who does a lot of work on the iPad and just adore the Decim8 app. This shows great promise, but IMO it shouldn't have been released at this stage for several reasons. There is apparently no way to access the help once you go through the first little tutorial. Somehow I managed to make my gradient fields extremely thin and for the life of me I can't figure out how to widen them again, though I can apparently add about a million new fields trying to figure out how to widen the existing ones (btw, I used to write software manuals for a living, so this really shouldn't be this difficult for someone like me to figure out). The app desperately needs a proper undo button, especially since I'm forced to use an iPhone app on my iPad, shaking to undo is not in the least bit acceptable. Unfortunately I didn't even get to the stage where I could save anything so I cannot speak to the resolution of saved images, but the resolution in the app itself is really bad. There are other issues as well, but if you fix these you'll be well on your way to one helluva app and an immediate and much improved rating from me. Personally, I cannot wait until I have reason to add more stars.

When I first heard the name Satur8, I assumed that it would be about gradient mapping, not gradient design. I'd still like to see gradient mapping but this is a 5-star gradient design tool 99¢, are you kidding me? Awesome!
