Multiplayer doesn't work, no expansion

This is the original, not the expansion, so it's missing a bunch of cards, and it's less balanced. The Guild Hall is massively overpowered here, the prefecture costs 3, the Gold Mine is more powerful, but without the Gold Smith, it's much harder to take a prospector strategy. In fact, you seem to need to take a producer oriented strategy due to the Guild Hall being so powerful. It even makes the monuments barely viable because building an Indigo Plant with the Guild hall is worth the same as a statue. Also the multiplayer is broken, which is why I installed it. The game itself is done pretty well, but the screen is small enough that you can only look at a portion at a time, so I wind up playing my own strategy much more, whereas I play mostly based on my opponents in person.

One Travel guy
Very enjoyable. As mentioned earlier, much easier to see what's going on using iPad vs. iPhone/iPod. Also echo multiplayer problems. Still fun playing against the computer opponents.

App is very well done. Runs smoothly. Fun game. gets a little repetitive, so I play it once in a while, usually only a game at a time, maybe two. Rules could've been a little clearer at the beginning, esp with regard to how/what determines the (changing) selling values of commodities. Seems random, and there's no way of knowing until after you choose the trade option. Anyways, still a good game. Well made.

There are a few cards in the newer version of the board game that have had their power level adjusted that are not adjusted in the app. The expansion is also not available. Otherwise, the Local Game mode is fine and fun for awhile.

I enjoy the game very much. But I wonder if luck plays too great a role. Playing the guild Hall seems like an easy way to win - for whoever gets it.

Great game. It is the original & can be unbalanced but is still great fun when you are looking for a fix of some San Juan & no partners at your house or on the go.
