This app is great, until you have to make changes

I wish the app was more user friendly for both the owner and the sitter when it comes to reoccurring bookings. I wish the schedule could be modified weekly as opposed to just skipping the day and refunding. It leaves room for error and I’ve had some frustrated dog owners.

Easy

Rover makes it so easy for me to manage my calendar and books guest dogs!

Great money, app not intuitive

We are Rover sitters and love the money it brings in and the dogs we’ve met along the way. Our business is quite established now and we’re getting more and more requests for recurring stays but the way they work on rover has literally all of our recurring customers confused and upset. It makes more work for us than a usual day care or boarding visit and if you have to skip a day clients will 10 out of 10 times ask me how to get a refund. No matter how often I direct them to the site or tell them they will have to pay in full and then be refunded when I don’t send a ‘card’ (which is an extremely annoying step for me, btw) they are confused and suspicious and a bit perturbed. It creates a lot of friction that is proving bad for my business. Hoping they can fix it soon! Keeping track of visits isn’t really intuitive either, where upcoming stays are actually listed in the ‘messages’ tab in the app (calendar is simply to mark availability...) and jump to the home tab on the day of the stay. Also seems like booking your quota for dogs doesn’t always stop you from appearing on searches? I have to tell a lot of prospective clients that I’m booked to capacity. in summary, love the service but the app can cause some headaches.

Great but there’s always something.

Really like rover. Just wish that pay was determined by hours and not just one “set” price. Also I wish you could rate the owners of dogs because I had one bad experience but it was mostly the fault of the owners not the only the dog itself.

Walker and Customer

I use it to earn some extra money and for when I need my dogs walked and for the most part, I love the app. Buuuuut- there could be improvements, for sure. I think the app should vet owners much more. I’ve had a lot of creeps message me and try to get me to text them because they “don’t know how to use the app yet” or some other lame excuse. It’s fishy and I don’t like it, as a young female. Walkers have to get background checks, so should owners. I think it should also be a requirement to fill out the doggie profiles completely and should have some more details. Like if there’s a complicated harness to attach, show that- or if they don’t like to be approached when they are in their bed, say that. Every dog is specific and has nuances that need to be disclosed to caretakers. I also think there needs to be a tip option within the app that the caretaker gets 100% of. Rover takes a hefty fee from all service but I’ve lost out on plenty of money because the owners can’t tip me in the app and I’m not always comfortable suggesting they can Venmo, etc. (and even when I do, Rover flags the conversation ?) There should also be a time slot or time frame question when someone requests a walk. Whether or not I am available for a walk is completely dependent on what time it needs to be so instead of asking if you’re available for a walk on January 26th, it should have a time attached to save messages back and forth. It would be much more efficient. But I’ve made a fair amount of extra money using the app and I’m very happy to be a doggie walker!

Do not use this dog walker. She visited my home, spent time with my dog, and was enthusiastic about walking her when she left. The next day she canceled with no reason given. She lacks the necessary professionalism and honesty required for the job. Move on.

Love Rover.com!

Awesome app. Awesome sitters for my pup!

Game changer

Becoming a dog walker made sense to me thanks to Rover. They met me and made me pass a test first and shortly after that I started taking more and more repeating walks until my schedule was full, and now I’m also dog boarding and this has become a full time business.

Love Rover

I love working for Rover and being able to adjust rates. It’s tough adjusting to being charged 20% by Rover especially if works not consistent or only one day.

Terrible app with dishonest dog walkers

buckyjdtu

This app was terrible. While it seems to make things easier by automatically matching you with a dog walker, I had a horrible experience with both walkers. The first walker stole a bag from me. After several conversations with the wag staff, they finally agreed to credit the amount to my account. But the money never arrived. The second walker was an hour late, claimed to have came earlier, then lied about not being able to find a key, even though it was clearly there. Do not use this app.
