People I was told by Nest that quick control is not approved by Nest labs. I don’t know why they are saying something that is not true. But you’re living a soft open to hacking! Call Nest labs yourself and find out! I wish it wasn’t true because I really liked Quick Control App!

First I had skylark. When Nest came out with Geofencing for home/away assist, I switched thinking that the native Nest Experience would be better. However, the geofencing feature was incredible unreliable for me. Specifically sometimes when I’m not home it will forget to turn off the AC. I finally had it when it didn’t work last week. I set out to switch back to skylark. But alas I found skylark was shutdown. So I gave this a try. I was reluctant because of the download cost. But I figured I would try it. I can report that this app works flawlessly for turning your AC off when you leave your home. It’s nice that I can also quickly adjust my temp when needed as well. I don’t have to wait for the nest app to warm up and connect anymore. I still use the nest app for schedules, and that’s ok. This app does what it says flawlessly. It’s not the prettiest, but it’s functional and reliable.

Had issue connecting multiple phones that could have been contributed to my Nest having to reset multiple times for a 2 week period due to AC issues. Developer responded to all of my questions. FAQs may need some updating due to things we found; (x1 radius works best, nicknames without spaces, etc.). Overall, good experience getting it back up and running.

I emailed the developer to ask if he could add a way for the widget to link directly to the Nest app. He responded almost immediately, and within a day, he had updated the app and let me into the beta so I could test the new functionality. It was very impressive.

Have to purchase twice with a two person household

Disappointed I have to purchase the app twice, once for myself and again for my partner. Even with family sharing enabled, she still has to purchase it. If I am doing something wrong please let me know.

I used SkyLark for a long time until it was shut down. I was directed over here and this app works great. QuickControl does what it is supposed to and helps save money. My wife is terrible about turning the thermostat up when she leaves so this app works in the background so she doesn’t have to think about it any more. The developer is quick to answer questions and work on the app. Thanks!

New user migrated from skylark after it shutdown. This app has been working perfectly so far. It sets the thermostats to Away when we leave and to home when we arrive. The widget is also very useful to adjust the temperature quickly. It also cost half of what I paid for Skylark. The developer is very responsive.

Edit: One more star as a nod to the additional larger size of the radius and the responsiveness of the developer. It does seem to cap out at 15 miles. I still believe Skylark had a better way to do this because of the customization level I could dial it down to. That app allowed the user to set different sized “set away” and “set home” rings which makes sense as I used the “set home” ring to be larger so it would allow time for the house to heat up or cool down before I arrived and a small “set away” ring that was a far enough distance that it would know that I’m not coming right back. Finally skylark allowed me to offset the center of the ring so I could actually adjust it and skew it toward the direction of my daily commute on the map. Again, still grateful for this app beings there is an alt but hoping the developer continues to enhance this feature. ORIGINAL REVIEW Former Skylark user here. Just got this app to replace. The main purpose i had for Skylark was the ability to geofence around my daily travels. While this app does offer it, the preset ranges are not sufficient for my daily travel. I would love to see that ability added into a future version. Provided the app performs well overall (as I’m new to it), I would bump my rating up with that feature for sure.

The geofencing feature is the main reason why I got this app. It works great once you follow all the instructions on how to setup the Nest settings. The customer support is very responsive and eager to know your issues have been resolved.
