FAR from free. Really costs $35.00

RSVideo

FAR from FREE, which is what you will really FIND. You need the $35.00 desktop app, to use this "free" iPhone app. Money better spent on VNC Viewer, or iTeleport, were you can control your entire computer. Read my posts under those two apps, I own both.

Not working now

ben-marko

At first FarSomething worked great, even through my Linksys wireless router. I had no issues and it was super easy to use. Then it stopped working - and although I received very fast tech support, I don't think that they were knowledgeable enough about how to work through the problems I was having (they never were able to identify what the issue was, in fact). I've had to move on, to another app which has worked fine right out of the gate.

Great! When it works

Diana Donofrio

It was great for the couple of times I got it to work. The app locks up more than it works. I tried reinstalling, powering down iPad, restarting the app on my Mac. it's hit or miss what works. On my iPad, sometimes it freezes with the app open sometimes it just never opens. Another buggy feature, it will allow you to open documents from your Mac for apps you don't have installed on your iPad (such as numbers) then it locks up. I was able to open a numbers file on my iPad even though i don't have numbers installed. I could view a basic spreadsheet, then it locked up the app. If they would work out the bugs, this would be the best app ever because i hate that I have to sync to my Mac just to get a file I need while working in another room.

Frequent lock ups

Pixel-Pusher

When this works it's great, but almost every time it requires a shut down and restart on phone to get working again since otherwise when re opening it just locks up. If this is fixed, I'll probably buy desktop license after my trial.

Brilliant but,

EzgiY.

Keeps crashing [iPad2] after a while, and freezes [blank black screen] on file open. I hope it gets fixed then, i'll buy the desktop app, even though it's quite expensive.

How much for more for a new version?

BBF TX

This app was close to overpriced when I thought I was buying a perpetual license for $35 for the desktop application required to make the system work. Now, just a year later, that license fee is worthless and long gone. I would have to pony up more money for the app to work going forward. I missed that fine print. See if you can find it! No thanks, not worth it. In addition, the user interface is clunky. Navigation is tortuous, requiring you to retrace your path many times to manage files. Crashes periodically as well. Not worth the price tag; there are cheaper and better alternatives now.

Nice App (Update)

Bdannenb

Used it for a while. Works for the most part and I like the user interface. Not rated 5 because I can't get WebDAV for round trip editing on iWorks to function and their tech support has not answered after 2 request. They fix that and it gets 5 stars. Update: they did respond. It got caught in my spam filter. They fixed the WebDAV on their server and now it is working as advertised. 5 stars

What a disappointment!

I downloaded this app based on favorable reviews a couple of weeks ago, only to discover that it is very counter-intuitive to use. Although I'm pretty computer and network savvy, after two weeks of frustration, I gave up and signed up for their monthly fee version just to get my iPad 2 to recognize my MBP. You may not be surprised to learn that, unlike their free instructions, the paid subscription resulted in immediate recognition of my MBP. You will be as surprised as I was that it takes >25 seconds PER TOUCH for my iPad 2 to log into the MBP. In fact, after wasting even more time just trying to get this non-functional app to do , I finally gave up in disgust. I did give the app one star because they let you try before you buy. This much work for some people but I find it surprising that it can't handle a newer MBP & iPad 2.

Brilliant!!!!!!

pfreeman

Absolutely a dream come true! A perfect app and EXACTLY what was needed! This app in two days has saved me literally 20 hrs of upload time using Dropbox. Thank you... Thank You!

No Good with Lion

Dr_Dick_Stick

Unfortunately, if you upgraded to Lion and want to access your Mac remotely, you won't be able to if your Mac is sleeping. Of course that's only if your Mac connects to the internet via wifi, and I'm sure it does. Until this is rectified, the app is pure junk.
