A missed opportunity.

This app is my only disappointment with the Purple company (I have the purple 4 mattress, the PowerBase and the pillow). The app offers nothing that can’t already be found on the base’s remote. It would be more convenient to use the app instead of reaching for the remote, however the options found in the app are simply dumbed down versions of what the remote offers. I can turn the massage on, but I can’t adjust the intensity. I can adjust the position of the head and foot of the bed, but I can’t save them as presets. There is no alarm feature (which would have been great). Smart home connectivity would also be a lot of fun. But none of that is offered. The idea of a bed connected to an app opens it up to so many exciting opportunities, and Purple hasn’t even attempted to explore those opportunities. I would expect nothing from Purple had they not created an app, but they did. And this app is the best argument against its own existence. The interface isn’t even optimized for the iPhone X screen. However I will say that the Bluetooth connection has worked flawlessly for me.

I use the app more than I use the remote to the point that the remote is often lost somewhere. Seldomly I have issues with connecting but all I have to do is turn my Bluetooth on and off and it’ll work just fine this app provides the convenience of technology and I love it!

We love our purple mattress, but I honestly wouldn’t have bought this adjustable bed if I knew it rarely worked with the phone software. The app will only find the bed less than 10% of the time. It is horribly frustrating. Purple won’t allow any returns on the beds, so we are stuck with it.


App is constantly loosing connectivity.

App isn’t bad, but I have to download and reinstall every night to reconnect my 2nd base. Also an alarm function would be nice, the ability to save more settings. Could be 5/5 if it tried, but it hardly tries at all.

The app won’t stay connected to the bases and reconnection is always hit or miss. For instance I just spent 10 minutes trying to get the app to locate both of the bases on my split king but It only sees one. So I can’t get it to reconnect. Tried deleting and reinstalling app and nothing. Just pretty much useless in my opinion.


Almost never works.

You have to fight with the app and pair it quite often if you’re lucky it connects. The sheets are shet- have 2 sets and the bed is about a year and a half old and both sets have holes in them. The bed itself is great however.

Don’t even bother with this app bought the purple 4 and PowerBase to which they have modified the power base but never bothered to update the instructions to the new model. Suppose to be simple Bluetooth connection but never could get the base to show up. Even if I had sounds like a pretty worthless app if I had or eventually do ever get it to show up to be able to connect to the app. Pretty poor execution on purples part. Not that a bed needs an app but for you are going to take the time and money to develop and promote one might want to make sure that it works first.

Can we fix this app? It has potential, but almost never actually works. I have to UNPLUG and REPLUG every time I want to connect to the bed via app. This is not okay. Since many features only work through the app, we don’t get the use of those features … because the app won’t connect.

I've generally enjoyed my Purple. As a new member I have the pillow, powerbase, seat cushion and mattress. I was dumbfounded whenever I asked support why the app wouldn't connect with my mattress. Instead of any tips, ”We recommend you contact the manufacturer.” I thought I did...its the Purple powerbase?
