If you're here deciding whether to choose plex or playon- go with playon!!! So easy to use and does everything for you. Love the service. Use it on my iPhone, laptop and have it streaming to my raspberry pi - anyone using a raspberry pi playon is 100x easier to setup than plex!! Reason enough right there lol

Needs major work

I have the Playon subscription service and the app. I am lucky to get 50% of the recordings I set on the PC to actually reward. The support team has been good about tweaking different settings on my Windows 10 pc, I record straight to a Synology NAS with 20 TB available for recording but still have more failed recordings than success. The biggest problem for me with the app which tends to have a higher success rate of recording is that you must select each individual episode to record, there should be an option to record the entire season, as well as to subscribe through the app. I also ding it very odd that you are limited to 720p definition on recordings. Fortunately my Synology NAS and Samsung UHD 4K tv do a nice job of upscaling when I stream on my network. Decent start, but much work needed to make it much more user friendly.

Mobile Version is not Good

Unless they let us do everything from the ipad or iPhone or any other Mobile device this company will go no were no sorry they will go down I pay I upgrade to plus version $49.99 thinking I will get or do like they but unless i have a PC or Mac On them I can used mobile device is only good to record but even recordings take long. If the developer some changes I know this app have a potential I hope they do something soon.

Requires a WINDOWS PC to work, making it less than useless for Mac users. Shame on you!

In the ad it said that it would work on an iPhone and iPad. Great! Unfortunately you need to install it on a PC FIRST! That could have been made clearer.

Great app, just needs a couple things

Playon is a great app. I've had it for years now. My only complaints are that there is no AppleTV app and that you have to have a Windows computer to act as your server. Yes you can use a Windows VM, but it's laggy and you can use airplay to stream to your AppleTV, but these are work arounds and that keeps it from getting 5 stars. I don't understand the no AppleTV app, they have an iPhone app and an iPad app, why not add it to the TV lineup? I love ad skip, best feature of all.
