The best

This app is the best there is out there. Been using it for the past three years, none still compare to it.

Can’t view hidden shared folder

Gà ngu

I share a folder on my windows 10 pc with the $ in the name, the player only see emty folder apter press the pc-name. I thought my pc or windows has problems but i was try with vlc and it can view all the hidden folder shared on the network so it cost 5$ and cant do things like free vlc.

Metadata keep disappearing

arkain33

Connect my collection on my smb server, this app start downloading all the metadata so we get pretty movie poster and info. But for some reason sometime after i disconnect server or close the app, some or all metadata disappear and the app redownload everything all over again. And 1 more thing, every time i pause when watching a movie. the app stop playing it all together, you can’t resume it at all. and you can’t fast forward to the scene you watch before, so you have to watch it from the start.

App no longer casts

Plutomama

This app was great until it’s developer stopped updating it. Now it lags very badly and will no longer work with Chromecast. Very disappointing.

I have been searching for a video player for some time now that I did NOT have to use iTunes or connect to a computer. This is truly the answer for me until iOS 13 comes out. I love how easy it is to connect through the browser and upload your content to the iPad. And the player is GREAT! I can finally create playlists of video to run one after another of our band sessions. As a bonus, there is a clip editor built in that works SEAMLESSLY WITH IMOVIE. This is the first weekend in a long time that I didn’t need to bring my Mac to do the rough cuts of our sessions. For the 7$, it works flawlessly. I am running this on an iPad Pro 11. My only real regret is that I didn’t know about this app sooner.

Great feature set, wayy unpolished and buggy implementation

I came to PlayerXtreme because my previous media player, AVPlayer, didn't support enough audio formats. PlayerXtreme solves that problem. It plays everything. But it does almost everything else worse. (1) The app crashes on navigating into my SMB shares. (2) Occasionally it has a weird interaction with my AirPods where it starts playing the audio from several files simultaneously, over top of the audio from the video you're currently watching, and the only way to stop it is the quit the app. (3) The audio levels jump unexpectedly sometimes; I think related to its feature of allowing you to set the internal audio volume (in the app, separately from the iOS global volume setting) to greater than 100%. (4) It has a really weird and annoying several-second silent gap that happens every time you lock or unlock the phone will watching something (with backgrounding enabled). There are other issues too. I really want to love this app, since it plays the DD5.1 that AVPlayer can't handle and has much more sophisticated features for downloading content from the local network, but it breaks so much and is so rough around the edges that I am searching again for alternatives.

Excellent Movie Player

I liked that you can download movies various ways and give the movie an authentic movie poster icon in your library. It also plays music flac files which you can organize into folders. Loading and storing music files is a two step process where you download the files and then move them to folders. What I don’t like is that you can only display your files one way at a time. All your files are displayed the same way. Showing movies as poster icons is great but music files don’t have posters so you can’t really use the poster display if you want to store music files also. I just display everything as folders so I can read the names of songs. Also, you have to be heads up to make sure the app isn’t running in the background. It will run your battery down to 0% in a couple of hours.

Very good media player, minor bugs

The latest version is missing the negative (-) button for the Audio Delay setting. Only the plus sign (+) is visible.
