Hardware locked app

Seems to be an app designed to only work if you bought their Bluetooth headset. I did manage to make it work with my own air pods. The app only verifies you’re using the Pilot ear pieces when you start the conversation. Once the conversation is going, you can switch to any Bluetooth headset and it works fine. 1-star until it can function with a single phone. Trying to artificially boost your install base?

Still Waiting...Is this just a big ruse?

This whole thing really feels like a big sham to me. It’s been a couple years since I first donated to the Indiegogo campaign. Since then there have been numerous emails and progress updates and promises of “delivering soon.” 10 days ago I got an email saying “Your package is on its way” with a DHL tracking number. The email links me to a Waverly Labs page with shipping progress, etc. I immediately go to DHL to track the number and get “No shipment found”. Over the last 10 days I’ve periodically checked back on the shipping progress. The progress and the page has not changed at all and the tracking number still can not be found by DHL. Until, and if, this thing actually shows up I have to believe this entire campaign is an elaborate ruse. Just a big scam. I hope I’m wrong and that I some day get to actually be disappointed like the many others who reviewed here, but until then I even have to think all those reviews, both positive and negative, are fake too. The whole thing just wreaks of a scam. Such a shame for what could and should be a true global breakthrough product. Maybe someone will actually deliver on the promise some day.

Pilot I hope you overcome yourself;)

The purpose for which it was created, failure in all senses, and more times than normal. In my humble opinion I think that you are very close to success, but... I believe in the success of your project although to achieve this we must work much more on improving the software. You need a high degree of sensitivity in terms of recognizing and identifying 360-degree sounds of the language and to process that information in any language and in fractions of seconds. Language Barriers require high technology to build a bridge indestrutible of communication. When use for the first time pilot I had several visions. Its limitations helped me understand more about your improvements. Here are some ideas: Imagine a menu of infinite possibilities. It is known that translates conversations external, but if you could translate what you hear internally from your connection bluetouch with two Piliot connected. A video, a music, etc ...to Listen, to understand, to comprehend, to appreciate the beauty of the sounds that culturally other people, expressed through the language, is to love a technology as a Pilot. Thank you very much WAVERLY LABS

Love the Idea - Execution So Far...meh

This rating is strictly for the app. The audio performance of the Pilot Ear Pods are spectacular. The app needs to develop into a one phone/device system. The person I attempted to converse with could not successfully join the conversation via the QR Code. I appreciate that this is new technology, and I believe in your mission (it’s been my superpower wish for years!!!)

The wait was worth it.

I backed the campaign on Ingogo sometime ago, finally receiving them just today! The earpiece fits wonderfully in my ear and comfortably, even though it seems a bit oversized and I was afraid it would fall out. One downside that I would say about the experience is that if somebody is using the other earpiece they also have to have a smart phone and download the app to their device. I was under the impression that conversation would be quick and simple by just handing them the earpiece, but that isn’t the case and that is the only reason I did not give it five stars. Apart from that the app works smoothly for multiple languages that I tested out with.

Get rich waiting two years hope you have a good return policy

Waste of money

I have to say, I was really excited when I found out about this product. Little did I know that it would appear to be a bait and switch program. I had understood that I would be able to use my smart phone and both of the earpieces to communicate with other people in a different language. Instead, I find that I need to download an app, and the other person that I want to talk to needs to download an app - how unbelievably inconvenient for someone that you meet on the street or in a casual setting - and they need to have a smart phone and be connected with my earpiece. This is the biggest waste of money that I have ever spent on a new product release and I regret the purchase. Oh yeah, the ear pieces are freaking huge and while a bit too large for my ear, they seemed designed to fit my huge German Shepherd’s ears. Perhaps she could use them, oh yeah she would need a smart phone and the app.

Not very good. Disappointed

After waiting over a year for these headphones , this app has not worked that good. Mexican to English has always been incorrect. After over a year wait and a lot of money for these I am just disappointed

Cannot connect to each other and conversation mode is awful

I received my earpieces and immediately started setting them up to the surprise that I could only hear music out of one piece at a time. I put them to charge and came back the next day. Same. Went through the troubleshooting page and no luck. I can connect each individually but not together. Then we tried conversation, the original intent was that only the main phone is supposed to have an app and you can just share the earpiece to start talking. I hope it does also work without wifi or data because when I’m traveling I don’t want to pay roaming charges or be tied to wifi. My wife and I tried English<->Russian and we COULD NOT hold a conversation. Translations were wrong, many times the buds didn’t pick up our voices, and the app would just start picking up both voices. THEY CURRENTLY DO NOT WORK AS INTENDED. 1)Why can’t I listen to music from both? Fix that; 2)Fix the translation capabilities to smooth out conversations; 3)Make the service not dependent on wifi/data; 4)Make it such that it only needs one phone. Fix each point and I will add one star/point to this review. Thank you.

Good idea but needs improvement.

The headset will disconnect every few minutes and then you will have to power them up to reconnect. Next is the translations. You have to speak so slow and clear and hope that it will understand you. My girlfriend is from Portugal and I am from the states. We play around and it is such an unnatural way to talk. You have to repeat the phrase many times trying to pronounce it more clearly. I loved the idea and helped fund the product but now that I received it, I am not sure how useful it will be. My house is always filled with travelers speaking many languages and something like this would be great. Maybe after a few updates it will be better. Also for the option to talk with people I think you need to have 2 phones. I tried to open the link and it asked for my partners phone to scan a code. Most people when traveling other country’s don’t keep a working phone service or even have a smartphone. I thought this would be done on one device. Maybe I haven’t figured it out. Good idea but ready for people to spend money on. Google voice translator does the same thing as this. Just buy a Bluetooth head set and have google translate speak the phrase.
