The newest update messes things up. You will need to uninstall the app and then download/reinstall the app. ...and yes, totally agree with everyone saying that the older version of the app is better than the new (clunky) version they keep trying to force down our throats. Get a clue Hue!

Just like many other people are saying, this is the superior app for many reasons. It's perfect for a studio apartment. Creating and saving your own light scenes and customizing them by naming them, and uploading your own photos is the best thing about version 1. Keep improving it, please.

Philips really dropped the ball when they decided to build a completely new version of the app that must be downloaded separately but doesn't automatically import the scenes from this app. The workaround is overly complicated (not complex but requires too many steps). What we're the programmers thinking? Not about the user experience, that's for sure.

It seems that Phillips may have intentionally rendered this older, better version of their system control app useless in this last update. I would think it was just a bug that wasn't caught in testing, but it came along with the note stating that the app will no longer be updated and that users should switch. I would do this but the new app has no connection to my bridge about 80% of the time. The old app always seems to connect for me just fine. I like the quick controls the new app offers, particularly the widget feature, but it isn't dependable for me at all. I have even tried uninstalling and downloading again and restoring the bridge. No cigar. The other thing I dislike in the new app is that it lacks and intuitive way for me to go in and slide around individual lights to change their colors. This was a big draw for me in the old app. I think the new one is an improvement in many ways. The old one was just a lot more stable. The fact that it crashes every time I launch it after it has undergone its supposed "last ever update" makes me pretty mad.

I updated and now the app crashes immediately. The developers surely know this by now... how have they not contacted us to let us know how they are fixing this? This isn't some free app, it's a necessary support for not-so-cheap light bulbs. I just don't understand :(
