iOS10 Breaks Siri reading eBooks

The overdrive team is super responsive to feedback and fixing bugs as they come up. Some complaints about updates breaking the app should be updated to reflect when fixes are released; often in a day or two. The update of iOS 10 breaks a previously useful function for overdrive: Siri reading ebooks. Before iOS 10, using the two finger pull down gesture caused Siri to start reading from the beginning of the chapter to the end of the chapter you were in at the time of the gesture. Ideally, Siri would start from the page you are on, but beginning of chapter worked well enough. After upgrade to iOS 10, Siri starts at the info panel / overview / TOC of the book rendering the feature useless unless starting and completing a book in one setting. Kindle and iBooks work in the ideal fashion even after upgrade. Hopefully Overdrive will update the app to work with iOS 10 and Siri.

Update 9/15: The latest update on my iPad (pre iOS 10) has loading taking fooooooorevvvvvver. Initial load, in between chapters load and between pages load are significantly to maddeningly slower. Previous: What a horrible update. Losing history. Losing books. Losing page settings. New page size not compatible with iPad. And, oh yeah, NO ROTATION LOCK! Makes it impossible to read lying down. Poorly designed audiobook player

Audiobook player does not work with Bluetooth headset which have controls for pausing and moving forward and reverse, this is a large inconvenience. Also the audiobook player is not designed properly to work with the visually impaired who use an iOS screen reader called voiceover, making an major source of audiobooks for the blind almost in accessible.

I use this app on a regular basis and I am able to read and listen to a great array of books, both fiction and nonfiction. It's an absolute must for when I travel.

I enjoy this app very much. It is easy to use once you figure it out and that didn't take long. I like being able to search for books even if they aren't at my library, they always get them and I love that you can recommend them and place them on hold before someone else scarfs them up lol... If you're a reader, get this app!!! ??

Most of the books I borrow come through Amazon & I read on my Kindle app. No problems. My current book is an ePub to be read though this app. Every time I tap the title to read the app crashes!!!
A trip to the Library!!!

I don't have to leave my couch! I've only had one problem with the app and it turned out to be my fault in the settings. The app is easy to use. I read a lot more now that I "go to the library"!!
Used to be better

After updates I can barely get the app to work. I waited months for big fixes and they never came. It's such a lengthy process to get a book I started using a competitor. Much happier with it, wish they would fix it, use to love this app.
