Beware - do not update

This has been my go to app for many years, the latest “update” deleted my favorites list. Was just fine before. Another “update” that degrades the customer experience. 9/2020 Update- App message indicates they are going out of business. My first response was how am I going to track my resorts and plan my skiing!!!??? Sad. This was a great app that - as others mentioned, many would have paid for. Second response was ok there must be competing snow report sites that are doing a better job. Haven’t looked because On The Snow was all I needed. Will look now. On The Snow is (was?) such a valuable service to a demographic that spends a lot of money (including people using the app in their private jet who could write a check for the whole company without a moments hesitation) that if it is failing then everyone should pay attention as to why. I’m guessing there are tons of case studies of websites and apps that became very popular and indispensable to users, then through efforts at monetization (aka “updates” that degrade user experience) have lost everything. We’ve all seen it. I can almost hear the pitches at Board meetings to make money by “updating” the app and peppering it with interruptive ads - just look at the fancy revenue charts! Kiss of death. To be fair, the app administrators maybe were forced into that by their VCs - or more likely the VCs were pulling up stakes and that was a last resort. If so, appeal to your users - as does Wikipedia. From a user perspective? To survive, clean up the app, focus on user experience and for chrissakes stop following the herd with annoying interruptive ads. How about an ad section where we can browse equipment vendors and reviews, and email push alert (opt-in) for equipment reviews and snow reports, maybe even partner with a tracking and track-sharing service to record and share favorite runs etc. If you have to charge $1 to own THAT app, that might fly, donations would be better. A subscription might work for a small cadre, most would go to a competitor. Good luck.
New design not working

I’d like the old design back! New design doesn’t work...trying to add favorite resorts and it doesn’t work. Why fix something that wasn’t broken? Update: Now it doesn’t even launch in IOS 14.0.1.
Terrible Update

This app used to be very useful for getting updates for your favorite resorts. The new layout is awful, and you are now bombarded with adds as soon as you open the app.
Why the changes?

Used to be a great app for getting forecast weather and historical snowfall. Now it just doesn’t work. Snowfall isn’t close to accurate. Weather isn’t correct. Bummer.

As in, it’s literally not even usable. It just crashes/quits about 2-3 seconds into the title screen.

The update made the app overly complicated and hard to find information. And why do I have to sign in to save my favorite resorts? Please bring back the old format of this app.

i cannot even open the app anymore. i’ve tried deleting and downloading multiple times but still no luck. guess i’ll find something else.

Use to be pretty good. New login procedure, all my favorites are gone, totally unintuitive menu. Whoever redesigned it ruined it.
