Future of CAD

Soccerisdabomb

Can do so much on just my phone, crazy. Mostly used for just viewing and editing documents, but super nice to be able to make changes too and not have to lug around my laptop. Great work

Can't use without internet at all??

So.... the whole point of the iPad for me is being able to do CAD work on the road, on a plane, whatever. I'm sure it's a great app but useless for me.

Awesome

Full 3D cad on an iPhone? Very impressed. Takes a while to get used to, but what cad software doesn't? This is like mini- solid works but for iPhone!! Very, very cool, and very smooth, glad to have this in my e-toolbox

Phenomenal program

Slakjaker

I can't believe how smooth and flawless it runs. Just a couple of things however, you can't tilt your phone sideways to use and that's a bummer. Also idk if it's a setting or not but when drawing lines they don't snap to corners or center points. Other than that, this is amazing

Good CAD while having Wifi

Pro: great cloud collaboration Solidworks file format and tools Runs smooth on an iPad Con: Doesn't work when not having an internet connection It still only operates like Solidworks clearly only 2d sketch based Lacks any adv surfacing tools Good modeling tools and smart workflows would have been more welcome than just pushing solidworks as is into the clouds Cad modeling really needs to evolve!

Great Tool - Must have for any CAD user

Samitrerol

Great potential on this awesome tool. The tools take a bit to get used to coming from the conventional CAD programs. I have found the assembly to be a bit challenging compared to other softwares, but not something that stops me from using it.

IPhone access is great

This is one of the joys of the cloud. Can snap photos of my designs to text ppl in a few seconds.

Does not support Mobil devices

After reading about this in the digital machinist magazine using this on phone and tablet I figured give it a try. But after signing up it says not mobile supported. What gives ???!?!? Still get the same mobile not supported. Been months.

Great

I use OnShape as a supplement to SolidWorks. I can design parts and and use them to communicate ideas to machine shops to compare costs.

My preferred cad

Free parametric modeling: awesome. Doing every part of model creation from wherever I have my phone, at any brief minute: awesome. Navigating cad interface with my fingertips: awesome Limited ability to do extraneous cad things so flexibly, not so great: 1. drawings Making drawings can only be done from a browser, and can export to .pdf, but can only be viewed on the phone 2. Rendering requires third party app, but does at least run in a browser, but not available to run or even view on the phone, except as an exported image saved in its own tab. 3. Surfacing has a third-party app, with a nifty onshape-association free-use deal, but it runs on a PC, not a browser... it's weird and I have had really poor experience with it. It crashes very easily. I tried to view and edit the Local Motors Strati 3D model .stl files that you can find on GrabCAD or thingiverse, and it just crashed over and over. Onshape is SUPER-close to what I ideally want in a cad modeler. It's not quite there yet. I just downloaded Fusion 360 for PC and Mac, and that might be good too... doing traditional CAD AND surfacing, and hosted online and also free, but Doesn't run in a browser. I have done on shape on my phone so much that it has made me consider buying an iPad that can run iOS 8 or later. I have a first gen iPad that can't do it.
