Scammers often use a fake phone number that looks similar to your own. This makes it seem like a legitimate call from someone nearby. This is known as caller ID neighbor spoofing, and can be difficult to block because the scammer uses a different number each time.
With Number Shield, you can block an entire group of numbers at once. Just enter a pound sign for each digit of the phone number you want to block.
For example, if your phone number is 714-555-1234, scammers might call you using a number like 714-555-6789. You can block all phone numbers that look like yours by entering 714-555-####.
Blocked calls are sent directly to voice mail.
Please note that iPhone limits how many numbers can be blocked by Number Shield. Typically, up to 1,000,000 numbers can be blocked. This means that Number Shield isn't able to block an entire area code.

Does simply what it claims and needs to do. Being able to block by wildcard is a huge help in cutting off scammers, either by entire area code or by blocks of numbers where all they do is increment the last number of theirs. An app like this is long past due. I don't need it to do anything else like others promise.

Step 1 - get a phone number from an area you don’t live in Step 2 - get this app and block all numbers from that area code Telemarketers almost always use the same area code as your number to appear local. But if you use this method that won’t work. I used to get several telemarketer calls a day but since using this method I don’t get any! Great app and worth every penny!

Impossible to set up? No unblock functions?

The app tells you to go to “Call Blocking & identification” within phone settings to activate it. This setting does it seem to exist. I went through every option in my phone settings and it’s just not there. I’m on 14.3. Also it does not say anywhere if the app can handle unblocking or if you have to do it manually from the blocked callers screen. Would be nice to make that clear. This would be useful if you’re blocking 10000 numbers at a time and you need to undo that.

Not Great at Blocking Text Messages

I purchased this app because it states it blocks text messages. Well, I’m finding that’s not accurate. I am getting slammed with spam text messages from area code 469. The app is suppose to support wild card. I have the app set to block 469-###-#### . (Yes, I know that’s a lot more of numbers.). But I’m still getting texts from 469 numbers. Grrrrr! 22 in one weekend! I had hoped this app would spare me from having to go in and manually block each number. After so many, it’s a pain.

I've been having a great experience with this app. I have been getting spam calls from similar numbers with the same first part and only the last two digits varying. I can block all numbers in this range with the app, which has reduced spam calls from 10/day to 1 or 2. I currently have 100,200 numbers blocked. Thank you for this app!
App not blocking texts

I am still getting texts from the numbers I listed in the app to block. Now the spam texts added another area code to send. I am beyond frustrated!!!!!

I have ben using the app for a long while now. Recently the app has been unable to synchronize and throws errors. When you have a large number of blocked numbers the update can take 30min or longer. There is a limitation of 40 million numbers. Would like to have seen a block all except contacts. But when the app is throwing sync errors it does not work. Will be looking at other apps now...:(
