Disclaimer: For the record, I am not a lawyer and am not, nor ever have been, in law school, merely a person who watches too much Law & Order, so I can only review this app from the perspective of a layperson. To echo the other reviews, I can't believe this app is free! I can attest that the definitions provided are very easy to understand even if you are a layperson. I recommended this app to my father, a C.P.A., who often needs to reference tax, estate, and business law and would recommend it to anyone else who needs to reference legal terms or definitions but is not acquainted with the intricacies of the legal system. I imagine this app could also be useful if party to a legal proceeding. Nolo could easily charge upwards of $10 for this app, although I'm grateful that they didn't as I probably would not have purchased it if they did (as I have no real need for a law dictionary other than passing curiosity). So my suggestion to those who have even the slightest interest in legal terms: grab this app! (Another plus: it doesn't take up much space despite being an offline dictionary and it's ad free.) One last thing, the way the alphabetical scroll functions is fantastic! I wish Apple had implemented it the same way in the iPod/Music app.

1-first Latin term entered yielded no results 2-no alpha lookup capability (you must scroll up or down continuously to look for terms) 3-appears to be limited in terminology Why all of the hype?

Been using it for maybe two weeks and it's always had the term I was looking up. Wish it had pronunciations.
Legal updates please

This app is decent, but would be much more useful if it provided access to the legal updates section of the Nolo site--but NOT via the silly, tiny browser interface please! The legal dictionary is nice. The browser in a tiny window, not so much. Please let the browser use the whole screen on iPhone! Sincerely, my eyes
Good company, but horrible interface

Nolo is generally an excellent company. But this app is a horrible piece of crap. The single most important thing in a dictionary app is the interface. (The quality of the content runs a close second.) The interface here is a user-hostile piece of crap -- clearly designed and programmed by someone who has never used an iPhone.
