Excellent alert system, but not in iOS 11

I’ve been using and have really appreciated the alerts received for several years. Severe thunderstorms, heavy rain and flooding, frost and heavy fog warnings, etc. Unfortunately now that I’ve upgraded to iOS 11, the app won’t load. Interestingly I still get lock screen alerts but cannot open the app to see more details or even change settings. I hope NOAA’s developers fix this. I’m giving the app 4 stars for consistent performance but they need to take care of the existing customer base as we paid for the product.

Ever since the recent iOS11.0.3 update a couple of days ago I can’t get the app to open. Tried deleting then reinstalling but made no difference. Hope you can patch it soon

I tried to open a Support ticket but they want way more information than I’m willing to give. UPDATE: New version starts up fine. Haven’t had a chance to get an actual alert yet but all seems well so far.

The app used to be in incredibly detailed and configurable. After the update it's no longer possible to select what type of alerts you want to receive for a selected location. Free apps let you customize at this level. I paid for this app because I wanted the ability to control what types of alerts I received for a particular location. Based upon the redesign, there's absolutely no reason to pay for this, since free apps give you more functionality and customization options. In all my years owning this, I've never once received a response to queries sent in to the app's support team.

The iOS 11 update is fabulous! The developer has put many thoughtful details into this app. I will happily continue to rely on this app to keep my family and myself safe.

When I first got this app some time ago, you could fine-tune the kind of alerts you received and could get a special sound alert signal to get your attention. The map would have weather symbols on it that, if you tapped them, would give a narrative description. You could select a distance radius as a zone for notification. As time has gone by, and as the app has been updated, I have found it less useful. At this point I find it pretty much a vanilla app like a number I already have. It's sad to me to watch this app develop into something less. I used to depend on it. Now I have a good deal of uncertainty about it.

Unless you make changes, the update to this app does not seem accessible for those of us that are blind and may use voice over. I don’t need the maps, or the radar. Previously, you could set the distance and a certain number of miles to get warnings. I got weather warnings for less than 100 miles which gave me all of the weather warnings for most if not all of the counties here in Arkansas. I don’t want just my county. This way if I get a warning A couple of counties away, I have an idea when the storm is coming to my area. You may not understand that and apparently neither does the National Weather Service but if you know your geography, you can have an idea when weather is coming to you. But so far, I am not impressed with this app and if it does not improve for those of us that are blind, I have to give it at the best one star maybe even zero stars. Very very very disappointed. I guess I need to start searching for a new Weather app which I really didn’t want to do. Since I first did this review a few days ago, I would like to make a bit of an update. They have made it somewhat more accessible and they are working on making it accessible for those of us that use voiceover. I really appreciate all their efforts that they are putting into this. I would now rate this three stars.
