I tried this app when it came as part of my car's apps and had very low expectations. I have to admit I really like this app and think as it adds more news sources and topics of interest it will become even better. Allowing me to create a bespoke news channel that gives me an audio playback is really useful.

UPDATE: Have been using app for over a year. Several updates made the app more stable. Currently in the last two versions it serves ads even for a paying subscriber like me. This below is old review: 95% of the time the app says it is not connected to internet. It looses all of my info (name, location, preferences, ...). I have restarted phone, reinstalled app, replaced SIM card, replaced phone. Again, very cool if it works but it rarely does. Works on the iPad.

I use this app just about every day and so far everything that's on it is been true so I have to say give it a shot you might learn something like I did every day about stuff I don't know that ! You can pick her own resources from many lists here! which is great or you can listen to the radio right on the same app. sources you want to hear from the sources you want to heard every day ? When I open this app it always has the latest news going on and what's going on in the world now! My only complaint is it still could add more local news entities.

I've never written a review before because nothing has caught my attention quite like this app and the crew that developed it. First of all, the design and interface are truly professional and user friendly. The concept and execution alone could be responsible for the death of printed newspapers. (Okay, that's a little excessive, but we now live in a fast paced world and have been distracted by too much advertising, that you end missing the heart of issues in the news unless you sit there and read it. With Newsbeat, you can receive the core necessities in the form of presentation. Professional speakers with proper dictator and the option to read along. It's like having your own personal news team in your pocket. Ready to tell you what's up during those long commutes in the morning. Then let's add on the fact that's these developers are truly dedicated individuals always looking to improve. Example: The app used to open and start the news as soon as it launched. People started complaining and they fixed it. So I told them I liked that feature because I am trying find apps that Siri on the iPhone can launch and interact with hands free. "Siri open newsbeat"= hands free news experience that you can manipulate at anytime. The developer responded back immediately within hours and said why they changed it that he might try create an option for what I requested. That is not something I take lightly. It's a testament to their dedication to their product/service. He personalized a response and is trying to make a difference with this app and I think that should be commended. And I'd also like to mention, I don't keep up with the news because of the fluff and my attention span for it. But this app had really helped me stay on top of the news a little better. 5 stars
