The bar has been raised!

Thorcom

I love the new 10 band graphic equalizer ability! This app truly has audiophile quality audio; especially while playing lossless audio files. While I may not have teenage ears, with high quality headphones, I can tell the difference between 256k and lossless audio 95 % of the time depending on the song's dynamics and sound stage presence. This app won't corrupt your iTunes library either like the new iOS 8.4 Music app with iCloud will. The user interface is a little complex at first. After I got used to how it works, I can just taste the pure sonic delight.

Works Well but Needs Work

Neutron music player works well with playing the music and bringing out the best sound possible from wav and flac music files, but the user interface is not good. The loading of music into the app is way more complicated than it should be, and the overall usability of the app could be greatly improved. I hope that the app will be improved someday.

Awesome App!

Don't Download This

I just purchased this app because I was feed-up with not having much control over my music on both my phone and iPad. Not even a crossfade option. Com’on Apple we buy your products isn’t that enough.. do you have to have total control, with your apple music. For anyone who wants total control of their music, how it sounds, plays, fades, equalizes etc this app is a god send. Great job! Very professional, and my music has never sounded better. Thank you.

Slow, buggy, confusing user interface, poor UPnP implementation

BobG813

I bought this app in the hopes of using it with my WDTV live and music on my NAS box. The WDTV live has a pass-through capability where it will send music files directly from the NAS to the decoders in your preamp via HDMI. This is absolutely the best way to listen to audio, as the D/A conversion takes place with high-quality hardware DA converters just before it hits the amplifier. With this app, all of the d/a conversion takes place on your phone and the audio is either streamed via airplay which is limited to 16/44 or to your UPnP device as an analog signal. With the decoding taking place on the phone, it shortens battery life drastically and heats up the phone and no matter how great their software decoders may be, it's not going to match the high-end hardware decoders that are in your preamp. So if you're into high-end audio, this app is not for you. Both 8 player and Media:connect support true UPnP implementation by passing through the digital file to your renderer. I also could not keep my WDTV live selected as a render. The app kept deselecting it and crashing bouncing me back to the home screen. In addition, as others have noticed the interface is extremely confusing and not very user-friendly. The scrolling out the app is slow and not very smooth 5-s), so it's very easy to make a wrong selection. I gave it two stars because for some uses if you are direct connecting it to your speaker it might be a useful app. The interface is still slow, confusing, and buggy. I ended up requesting a refund for my purchase.

High Res, DLNA, EQ & More

The Federalist

This app takes some work to get comfortable with (importing library through DLNA was a trial and error process) but offers outstanding sound and a quality eq once you've gotten comfortable with UI. Only app on the market that offers DLNA streaming for wireless HDD connectivity and EQ. I connect a WD Passport Wireless through DLNA over wifi and stream my entire music library on the go. Thin or compressed music can be massaged with well implemented onboard EQ. User interface isn't as nice looking as some but sound quality is top notch and it has more customization options than any app out there.

Ugly, unfriendly and terrible dlna support

rezist

This player can do a few simple tasks. Let's you control EQ and levels, allows to browse network shares but only default ones and has very poor dlna/upnp support that destroys overall user experience. Sorry guys, this product is overhyped.

Spectacular - Will NOT disappoint - alternative to Can Opener !

GTI-Guy-FL

I was a disciple of Can Opener. Simple. Worked great. Sounded fantastic - sound in my GTI came alive and was spacious ! But it stopped working after running FLAC. Could not after multiple clean reloads and reboots get it to work again. No sound. And then the kicker - NO CAN OPENER SUPPORT ! No email answers after weeks of waiting before this happened. And none since either with the failure. That made me mad. Humph. Enter NEUTRON - simply ROCK SOLID ! Dozens more controls and sound shaping options than Can Opener. A MUST HAVE for audiophiles with music on the go ... This is what I've been looking for. As simple or complicated as you want to make it. And sounds MO BETTA than Can Opener. Be patient. Try things on this app - it will give you what you want. Just don't over process your music - small adjusts and BOOM ! Enjoy this app - this makes my new stereo install sound like a concert hall. I can't see how any one could be disappointed with NEUTRON. Get this app. Signed : their newest disciple :)

Gets better with each update.

UK Headz

Awesome sound quality and control. This and Kaisertone are the best I've heard.

Probably the best...

Competion is good

Probably the best music player in the App Store for people who truly want to experience their high fidelity music files.
