• Search for hikes using the map or a park's “best of” list curated through star rankings from the community.
• Never get lost again! See your live position on a terrain or satellite map and vertical profile
• No cell signal needed. The data is available offline, and your phone uses its built-in GPS to show your location.
• Plan the perfect trip for you, using our hike difficulty ratings, elevation profiles, star ratings, and informed insights on seasons, camping and lodging, guided tours, food and drink, and more.
• Traveling with kids? We have an expert-selected list of Family Friendly Hikes. Want to target the park’s most beautiful features? View our list of Gems.
• Other cool features: Create a to-do list, upload your photos, record a GPS track, or send your exact location to help in case of emergency.
• The app is completely free--it’s our gift to you as part of the National Park Service's Centennial Celebration.

By using GPS, we can show your location on trails and vertical profiles. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Best free national park guide

I used this App while I visited at Glacier National Park. It showed your exact location without cell service.

Keeps crashing

Using iOS 11, app keeps crashing even after app update, use to work great previously....please advise.

..ignorant Trump turns them all into Industrial Parks!!!

One of BEST apps I’ve used
Shredded Thumb

I have 50+ apps on my iPhone and this is one of the top ones. I wish more apps did this — all content is available offline and combined with GPS location services, you can easily navigate your progress on one of our NP trails while you hike. That’s really important because usually you can’t get cellular data service while hiking in the wilderness. We’ve been using it in Yellowstone and Grand Teton parks and it’s been more helpful than the NPS hard copy maps! Thanks REI, GREAT work!

Nice, could use a key on the trails, no clue what the symbols mean
GiphyRulez

A key would be useful for those of us that live in flat lands and arent familiar with this sort of thing. Im going to assume the black diamond is the easiest trail to take my small children on, haha.

Disappointed it doesn’t cover most popular park better
Ace.99

A laudable effort, but its coverage of the most visited national park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee, is very lacking. There is some content for the North Carolina area but Tennessee is almost non-existant. We are looking forward to a future update that includes it.

Best National Park Trail App
DMc in Wisconsin

Great app. Not only has info on the hikes but maps are GPS enabled which allowed use when out of touch. Found them accurate and reliable. Of course the price is great too! Thank you REI

Just like the REI stores this app is incredible

This is a must have app. Fantastic layout and information. Will be using it this weekend at Valley Forge. Maps, guides, walking and hiking guides, family friendly options and much more info. LOVE IT! Thank you REI.

Crashing!
Angrymonkeymermaid

After the latest update it keeps crashing when trying to open it. And yes I have done everything: unloading and redownloading, shut down phone, exit and restart app. But to no avail. I use this app everytime we go to Acadia, although makes me wish we had more national parks in the Northeast, but I’m planning a road trip to Yellowstone this upcoming year and need this app to work. App is great for a good starting point when planning a trip and other info. If the app stops crashing then I’ll bring the app back again to 5.
