I had previously rated Mvelopes as five stars and have been using the product for 15+ years. Mvelopes in attempt to continue to evolve has had serious hiccups recently. This would be acceptable if their staff took the time to communicate and support the product. The problem is they don’t. They charge a fee for a product and then require you to schedule an appointment. Service appointment availability is two and three weeks out. Mvelopes claims they want to help “you” gain control of their money, but they also want you to wait for support when something on their fee based service breaks. How can I get control of my finances when the product has connectivity issues and support isn’t real time or concerned with getting you answers. I would encourage new potential users to search reviews for most recent comments and see that my disillusionment is not alone.

I have used Mvelopes for over five years. Since the migration to version 5 their support has been unable to fix anything. It stopped syncing one of my accounts and told me it was on my accounts side. It is not. Mvelopes has major problems. One major feature stopped working on March 1. Today is June 23. I have contacted support numerous times each month. They tell me they are working on it. It still is not fixed. Run from this app as fast as you can. Do not believe the Developer replies. They are unable to save this sinking ship. I am checking out other options. Leaning toward Goodbudget. Goodbye Mvelopes. I tried for four months to get things fixed. Nothing. My patience has run out. I feel burned. Your reply will not help. Your support team cannot or will not help. Goodbye!

App is great when it works, but we’ve had consistent problems since they finally rolled out newest version. Have had multiple instances of credit cards not refreshing, but when I try to address the issue, where other companies would allow me to edit account login info or already be aware of issues with that particular card and have instructions listed, they simply have a resolve button, which is supposed to put you in touch with a support person. Unfortunately, it takes forever for them to respond and if the issue does get resolved, it’s really difficult to catalog all the missed expenses.

Read the forums online about Mvelopes, they used to be good, not anymore. This app has given me nothing but trouble in the 18 months that I used it. It will glitch occasionally and miss transactions which means that you have to reset your entire budget in order to get things to line up correctly. Their customer support may very well be the worst on the planet. I have now been using YNAB for a month and it is amazing, their app is very robust, and I’ve used their customer support to ask questions twice already and they are extremely helpful! Don’t waste your time with Mvelopes!!

I was a customer for a few years, then got double charged my annual membership fee (which went up without my permission). Now the app doesn’t work at all for me, won’t connect and won’t download account info. I thought maybe something was wrong at my banks, but I bank with 3 different institutions and none updated. Swapped to YNAB and have never had any issues. While I had mvelopes, I consistently had issues with accounts updating, a crashing app, and a clunky web browser. My #1 issue, what caused me to switch, was the double charge for the annual fee. Reached out to customer service a bunch, no response. Out $90. Go to YNAB, you pay more, but everything works really smoothly and syncs across all platforms and users effortlessly. UPDATE: Wes @ support helped me out. He was able to refund me both charges (apple and annual direct). Super helpful. He explained that the reason i had so much trouble previously was because I had signed up for the new BETA transition and that some of the coding kept me in an error loop. All in all, I’m pretty satisfied with the resolution that he provided. It was all i asked for, I wish it had worked the first time because i really did like the software and how (when it was working) it sync’d between my wife and I’s devices.

I loved doing this program! Its awesome, my coach is beyond amazing but I am SOOOO FRUSTRATED with the new app updating! I have to delete and reinstall ALMOST DAILY!!!!

I did some research and so many people have felt the same way. I used this we give for years and loved it. Told everyone about it. But the new update has caused so many issue and there is no end in sight. I am looking for another service but if they will go back and fix these issues I will stay with them. But seriously got back to Mvelopes 4

I’ve been using Mvelopes for 6 months now, and was great for a while. However... I experienced some sort of bug on the server side which executed some transfers 7 times, resulting in my balance to be off by tens of thousand of dollars. I tried undoing the error, resulting in transfers being removed from the ledger, but the total for some reason still reflected them. Must be a developmental bug. Anyways, I tried a partial reset to no avail, and reported the issue on their support website in detail. This broke my account so much that I just asked for a full reset that I can start over. They asked a few questions and moved the request status to “in progress”. That was 3 weeks ago. No update. In addition, I was “locked out” of my account for a few days, and noticed my subscription was changed from iOS annual payment (only 3 months in), to monthly. This has also yet to be resolved. Effectively, I’ve been unable to use the platform I paid for and have gotten lackluster customer service. If you’re looking for a budgeting app that’s full of problems with virtually no support, I highly recommend mvelopes! Otherwise, continue your search.

We have been Mvelopes customers for years. It is by far the most useful app that we use. It also, by far, the most unreliable. A whole months work of purchases were erased. They could not update my account for to 5 version for years! Right now I cannot login either through app or website. Looking for alternatives. Great concept. Terrible execution.
No support / unable to use

I have been reaching out for support to resolve technical issues with this product for two weeks. My issue is still unresolved and I am unable to even start using the product. I was excited to try this product and would still like to if someone would ever respond to my support tickets / emails. I have been really frustrated with the lack of support. (Support ticket number MSP-61649)
