Works great, even while away

This apps work great. I can turn the AC on before I leave from work. It allows you to adjust the fan speed and temperature.

Mrcool app

It's a worthless app it worked good first day but now shows offline and does not operate a/c

Not reliable
FAM.187

App works maybe 65% of the time. I e had the unit now 6months and it often loses the wireless connection and has to be reset.

App not reliable

This app functioned fine for about two months, today it randomly decided not to work even though my wifi is working just fine. Totally f'd me over. I am going to hardwire a timer because I cannot rely on this app to function everyday.

It works

Another update: the MrCool people did eventually get back to me, and worked with me to resolve the issue. Apparently a weak wifi module was the culprit. They sent me a replacement and after plugging it in, I have only had one incidence of the unit showing offline. So, so far so good. Upgrading by a star based on customer service responsiveness and willingness to work with me til the issue was resolved. Update: the app stopped working, instead sending error "the ASYN reply does not exist." I called MrCool and they were worthless - said they get back to me the following day, and of course he didn't. I reinstalled the app, then paired the unit again. Same result. I finally thought to reboot the wifi network the unit is on, even though that network is operating just fine - speed tests are normal and I've been streaming HD video and music through it without issue. Lo and behold, that did the trick. Apparently the DIY unit's method of staying connected to an otherwise fully operational network is unstable, despite the app showing the unit online. I'll be glad when they finally upgrade this app such that it actually works. Original review: Installed a MrCool DIY 24k over the weekend, and chose the brand partly because of the ability to control it via the app - very important for my application. About a 3rd of the time the app shows that the unit is offline, although in subsequent attempts the app can usually get its attention. The fan speed switch on the app doesn't show which speed the fan is going, and I'm not even sure it works from the app. The turbo button usually says that the feature isn't equippd to work with my unit, then other times it works. Nether feature that changes the air direction work, up and down, or right and left, although I know that the right and left feature really doesn't work on the unit, even via the IR remote control. The app paired with the unit, but not exactly according to the instructions, which I suspect were written for a past iOS version that isn't current - I couldn't testify in court how I got everything to pair, but on my second try everything paired successfully, so ok. So basically, you can usually...USUALLY turn it on, turn it off, switch modes auto-cool-heat, and change the temp, and just about every other function either doesn't work or only works every once in a while. So all-in-all, I'm glad that this exists, because the basic ability to turn on my AC from 400 miles away is an absolute necessity for me. But it barely exists in a functional form, and anybody wanting advanced features? Lotsa luck. REALLY looking forward to a much-improved version 2.0, SOON please? IF there was a 2.5 star rating, that's what I would have really given it.

Did I make the wrong buy
Tylerb173rd

I bought this unit for the Wifi and the APP and neither are working. Hopefully I hear back from Mr. Cool tomorrow. EDIT: The unit connects now. Mr Cool sent a quick email with instructions for connecting. The signal disconnects occasionally but I guess that's ok. The APP doesn't have any programming for different temps. For instance, I'd like a different day temp and night temp and I have to do it manually as opposed to programming it for daily operations.

WiFi Reliability is Horrible
Russlj

If you purchased the MrCool ductless heat pump expecting to be able to use this app to control it from your iOS device, you will likely be disappointed. The app is unreliable.

For $2500 the WiFi should work
MrKDA

Just like everyone else, my ac unit disconnects from the WiFi. For the price of the unit, they could invest a little into the app/hardware on the ac.

Missing features
PlayazLS

The unit works great. I cannot say the same for the app. A lot of the features available on the unit is not allowed on the app such as Turbo. Please fix the app so all features work.

The app only kind of works
Kystmar

When I want to turn the unit on and off, it seems to work. But after a while of the unit being on, I can toggle power, but it just stops blowing. The only fix is to power cycle with the physical remote. As soon as I do that, the blower kicks in. Not sure the issue As others have mentioned, you also can’t program the unit for different settings throughout the day. And there are controls on the physical remote missing from the app. Almost got it, Mr. Cool. Just missed it on the implementation.
